Lane Bryant misusing my edress

I have recently started receiving e-mail from this company, who claim that I have them my edress when I signed up for my account. But I've never heard of them, much less signed up with them and the name on the emails isn't mine.
I have contacted them and pointed out what I assumed to be an error and asked to be taken off their list. It took them weeks to reply and then it was to tell me that they would try to contact their customer and ask her to change her details! In the meantime I'm getting two or three, essentially, spam emails a day.
It's there any way I can force this American company to remove me from their mailing lists?

Sounds like a data protection issue to be honest...
I reckon someone has mistakenly used your email address to open an account with this company (people make mistakes!). Now due to it not technically being your account the company aren't able to remove you rom the mailing list because you can't pass the data protection questions.. and the company likely only has the telephone number 4 the customer which is most likely not being answered!
Solutions;
1. let the company contact the real customer and sort it out
2. Set up your email to auto delete these emails (easy to do)
Those aside, you've probably just got to put up with them!0 -
If it is a american company not based here then DPA will not apply.
OP just mark them as junk mail0 -
Sorry to be away so long. Took advantage of the good weather and went camping.
Yeah, pretty much what I figured.
I don't think it's been a mistake, though. There have been several - unsuccessful - attempts at hacking my account recently. Passwords changed and so on, but it's really annoying that this company won't take my edress off their mailing list. In fact, since I complained they've increased the number of spam mails I get per day. What makes them think that will make me by their dresses for outsized women I don't know, but the spam filter has them now.0 -

I'd guess that one of their customers mistakenly typed in your email address instead of their own.0
