This company seem to be scamming you into joining a VIP membership at the cost of £35 a month. I thought I had just ordered a pair of boots and paid by credit card,...I have just realised they have been taking £35 a month for 7 months apparently it's a membership in small print certainly not obvious when you make an order...now refusing to refund even though they have provided no service or goods ...can anyone offer me any advice please

Just checked the website....
A section called "How it works" says;
VIP Program
GET A PERSONALISED BOUTIQUE ON THE 1ST OF EVERY MONTH
Receive new styles handpicked just for you by our stylist each month
VISIT YOUR BOUTIQUE BY THE 5TH OF THE MONTH
Log into your Boutique and check out your new selections by the 5th of the month. Browse and buy your favourite style. Each JustFab style is only £35.
NO OBLIGATION TO BUY. SKIP ANY MONTH.
If you're not ready to make a purchase, simply click the Skip The Month button in your boutique by the 5th and you will not be charged. Skip as many months as you'd like. If you do not take action by the 5th, you will be charged £35 for a member credit on the 6th. Each credit can be redeemed for 1 JustFab style, so use it to shop later.
Note: You have the right to cancel your VIP membership anytime. Please read our terms and conditions for more.
I suspect you signed up to the membership without reading the details and now you're upset about it.
Not to mention last time I checked this company seemed above board.... Scam my bum
Only advice I can give is that you may have up to 7 credits to spend on the site......0 -
I think the above post is very harsh, whilst it does state on the website about the VIP membership justfab are very subtle about what exactly you are signing up for when you checkout:
1: The first page has been designed for you to click VIP as that button stands out more and the price is cheaper. Doesn't state in black and white that you will actually be paying £35 per month.
2: Again on step 2, nowhere does it state "VIP membership costs £35 per month". Also note how small the checkout as a member link is and the wording used, why wouldn't you want to save 50% (it is also below the page fold).
3: Again note the small misleading text, no mention of a subscription, just a mention of £35 as a "credit". This is on the page where you enter your credit card details. An ethical company would have a notice there that clearly states that you are also signing up for a £35 per month subscription.
Whether this is a scam or not is open to debate, if the VIP membership was so good why would the company need to trick people into signing up? Clearly they are profiting because people may not realise they are paying monthly until some time in the future. I personally think checkout tactics such as these are disgusting, it is very misleading. The internet is full of complaints about this company.
How did you pay for the membership (credit card or paypal?). I would contact justfab again and state that you did not realise you were signing up for a monthly subscription, did not want the subscription and would like a refund of the monthly fees paid.
You should ask to speak to a supervisor and state that you will be filing credit card chargebacks if a refund is not received - companies do not like to receive chargebacks as if you are successful they lose the money and are charged a fee.
If this doesn't work you can try filing a chargeback with your credit card company, although I suspect it will be too late for some of the transactions. You may be able to go down the small claims court route although this will be time consuming.0 -
Make sure you CANCEL RIGHT NOW (if you haven't already).
Also contact your CC company and tell them that the Continuous Payment Authority for JustFab is revoked - they no longer have your approval or authorisation to debit your account.
That should stop any further payments. Then pursue them for the payments already made.0 -
I think the above post is very harsh, whilst it does state on the website about the VIP membership justfab are very subtle about what exactly you are signing up for when you checkout:
Are we on the same site? On the checkout screen it states;
YOUR PURCHASE AS...
REGULAR YOUR PRICE: £49.00
Free delivery & returns
VIP YOUR PRICE: £35.00
50% off first Pair of shoes or handbag -£17.50
Discover the benefits of VIP membership:
Flexible subscription, cancel any time
No obligation to buy, skip any month
Free delivery & returns
Earn points towards free shoes
Seems ok to me... quoting 2 prices and clearly lists the changes in service....
On the order summary it goes on to explain;
With this purchase you are
activating your VIP Membership.
No obligation to buy. Skip any month.
If you are not ready to make a purchase simply Skip The Month by the 5th and you will not be charged. Skip as many months as you'd like. If you do not take action between the 1st and the 5th of the month you will be charged £35 for a member credit on the 6th. Each credit can be redeemed for 1 JustFab item so use it to shop later!
The deliv and billing add page explains;
Membership: No minimum period
Price: None, if you click 'Skip This Month' in your Boutique by the 5th of each month. If you don't purchase or skip by the 5th, your account will be charged £35.00 for a credit, which you can use later at any time.
Underhanded tacticss, quite possibly yes. Scamming, not a chance. The service was bought as advertised and whilst I do agree with you to an extent I think there is enough on the site to make people aware that they are going to be charged every month unless they skip it.
The only debate is whether the company should be penalised and I am inclined to think that they shouldn't, and that OP should just consider it a lesson. That being said, I would certainly recommend them doing as you advised just to see what happens0 -
Thank you for the replies....I have looked into this a bit more since my original post and there seems to be a number of people caught out like I have been ...I can now see on the website the info about VIP membership but when the original purchase was made this was far from clear and going from their face book page alone this seems a familiar scenario. I have email the company and had no response and will now be contacting my credit card company ...thanks again folks0

To all those who have been caught ought by JustFab's "VIP" membership scheme.
I raised a dispute via PayPal, and won my money back.
"We have concluded our investigation into your case and have decided in your favour. We were able to recover 35.00 GBP, and this amount has been credited to you. Please allow 5 working days for this adjustment to be posted. If you are due any additional funds, we will make our best effort to recover the balance from the seller. If the seller's account has insufficient funds to complete the refund owed to you, please be assured that we will take appropriate action against the seller's account, which may include limitation of the seller's account privileges."0 -
Hi I ordered I pair of shoes off this website as I recieved a 75% discount, I went ahead and ordered a pair of boots and without realising u had signed up got the VIP membership. So before I even recieved the boots I rang up to cancel my VIP membership as I did not want to pay £35 a month I also asked to just cancel my order but was told it had been dispatched, and if I did not want the shoes any more to just refuse them what happens if I keep the boots can they charge me any more money even know I've cancelled my VIP account which it says you can do at anytime thanks0
-
Yes, you will owe them the difference between the regular price and the VIP price. The price you agreed to was with the VIP service, this is no longer the case so you are not entitled to the discount.0

We too have been fooled by this firm. You know the story before I say it... Daughter liked boots, purchased boots on CC checked credit card statement in December 2015 and those 'cheap' boots have now cost us £82.odd in totalwhy can't companies play nice? - feeling mugged just before Christmas.
