Small Dent on bumper of new car.

  • ive had success in using boiled water method pour boiled water over the area affected then press hard behind the dent working outside the dent inwards (don't get it on you or it will scald you) just be quick to get behind the dent while the plastic is soft and pliable after you've poored it on slowly cant guarantee that the paint will not pop off with the dent that's a chance you take.

PDR method is using a heat gun over the area and smoothing it out again no guarantee that the paint wont split or pop off or flake out after but atleast he will have the tools to blend and spot spray the affected area.

in both cases there no guarantee that a small ripple in the area is left. plastic stretches and usually with heat will return to shape, but in some cases, fibre plastic bumpers aren't all that forgiving.

  • Thanks for all of the advice. I've posted a link to the image of the dent. I have seen a small kit on amazon for small dents but not sure if I'll just make it worse.

Bit of an odd shape that, like someone poked it with the end of a walking stick.

Honesty on a newish car I'd seriously recommend paying up for a decent SMART repair on something like that. DIY kits are fine if you just want to make it "better" but on a new vehicle something like that ought to be put completely right IMO. A SMART repairer will add filler if needed, sand down the area and respray the area with colour matched paint to get it looking 99.9% as good as new. It shouldn't cost more that £100 and can be completed in a day if you get the car in early enough so they have time to cure the paint between layers.

Before and after shots of my own stupidity attached :o

is it a dent ? , its a perfect circle , is it a factory hole for parking sensors that's showing through
  • that looks very much like a parking sensor location area, look closely over the whole bumper for any more!. if there is then this car was fitted with the wrong bumper/or accident replacement if it hasn't got reverse sensors.

Or just that the makers use one moulding for models with and without, and punch out the holes (already marked) if required.

I'd agree that the marks look like they are original, not damage.

I uploaded the pic for the OP, I don't see how that is trolling?
I think the pic before was someone showing what a smart repairer can work on?
