Another one who thinks "What the 8888 was the solicitor playing at?" (as in I'd be expecting my solicitor to tell me what flowers they wanted at their funeral in OP's position....)0

Been in a simialr'ish position (post is here) & while it was a nightmare of a situation I & the couples above me in the chain did get our expenses paid for. Neither of us incurred major bills; no hotel fees, just spare clothing/food & the additional storage/removal expenses. My (now) ex dealt with the solicitor, so I don't know how it all happened, but the idiot at the bottom of our chain lost a lot more money than one day's interest
OP - you have my sympathy.& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

Yes, you would think that the solicitors would check. We completed on a house purchase a couple of months ago, our 'deposit' was coming from our house sale, the solicitors also got a copy of our mortgage offer. However, we also put in a 6 figure sum of additional money - at no point did the solicitor asked to see even EVIDENCE of these funds.... In fact it was me doing all the panicking to ensure that they had the funds at their client account the day before..... had to chase them for the account no, etc
I feel for the OP and hope it gets all sorted out. It should not be possible to purchase a property without secured funding - there is a flaw in the process.0 -
Any update OP?0
