  • That's a great way to look at it GunWharf. I need to start looking at where my carer prospects lie and I am way to comfortable in my current job as it has so many perks. Def going to try and do it in the most MSE way possible :)
I will take a look thanks Ninno. I am usually rubbish at remembering to cancel thing so don't sign up to things if I do download it I will have to set a reminder on my phone.
Off to take some more photos on fleebay :)
  • Well yesterday was a write off! Had the worst day in work for ages which resulted in a really bad headache so cancelled my night out. I still spend the £15 on wine and chocolate (which is left untouched in the fridge as I was feeling so rough!!)
I thought Friday was pay day but it's Monday-Nightmare as it is my Nephews birthday today and have nooooooo money!! Bad Aunty!! I'm not seeing him until tomorrow so have all day to think of something that doesn't involve the use of my credit card!
Have cleaned through down stairs this morning, got a pot of fresh coffee on the go and just waiting for Hublet to return home with breakfast (raffle price).
Today is going to be a SFD (depending on Nephew's pressy) and I am going to finish sorting all out boot sale goodies out ready for our boot sale next week- weather permitting. Does any one have any boot sale tips?
I thought I had ran out of shampoo earlier but decided instead of going and buying some I would have a look if I had any anywhere else. In total I have found 3 half used bottles (in swimming, over night and gym bags) It got me thinking how many unused/part used toiletries I have lying about. I am going to sort them out (some appear to have gone off) and start using them before I buy new. The same goes for cleaning products. Under the sink is rammed full of half used bottles which are now going to be used before I but any more.
I have been thinking a lot about ethical products and have decided from now on not to buy anything that is tested on animals and also to try and make own products wherever possible.
    Have a great weekend all :) x
  • Hi Bye Bye

Hope you are feeling better today. I didn't want to read and run but have you seen 'PINTEREST' it's an app (and a website I believe) that has loads of ideas on how to make homemade products; cleaning, toiletries etc and also gifts and although pretty things. You can 'like' any ideas you like the look of and can 'pin' any ideas you want to view later to your 'favourite' boards - sounds a lot more complex than it actually is. If you have a smartphone, ipad or other device you will be able to download the app for free and it will give you a tutorial before you get going. I know I have found the app very useful in saving money or finding cheap and easy recipes.

Hope you have a better day :) x

  • Thanks Garfield. I'm feeling much better today. I signed up on pintrest a while ago but didn't understand what I was supposed to be doing! I will def revisit it today though.

Today I have done absolutely nothing! I really need to get a wiggle on. I have been thinking abut how long it will take me to clear my debt. Even if I pay £400 a month (which is more than I can afford with my wages alone) it will take me 26 months!! I was hoping to get it all paid off well before that!

My to do list for next week is
*Make a budget for the month (and stick to it!!)
    *Pay £300 off my card
*make and take lunch into work 4 days (at a wedding on Friday)
    *List 20 things on Eb@y
*Make a card for my friend's wedding
*book a cheap room for the same wedding
*Find something to wear for the wedding on Friday and also my friend's wedding in August!
    *have 5 SFD
  • Well budget planning has not gone well. I am £68 over and I was very strict. Having 2 weddings, 2 birthdays, 1 gig and needing to pay for a hotel and football tickets this month is not helping!

Instead of paying the £300 off on pay day I am going to pay off £232 and then hopefully will be able to pay off the other £68 with money made from boot sale and eb@ying!

I never plan my budget but doing it tonight has really made me think how I spend my money. The majority of my money goes on holidays, gigs and socialising. We are going away in September but after that I am not booking anything else until ALL the debt is paid off.
  • Well today I want to scream!!

OH is being a nightmare. He keeps helpfully telling me that not spending £20 in the pub is not going to help us pay off our debts any quicker, neither is saying no to nights out or looking for bargains- YES IT IS!!!!!!!

I am finding really hard to get through to him!! Today I had a bag of Frozen fish dropped off as my friend gets really good deals and he put it in the fridge. I have now had to cook the lot of it and will be living off fish for the next few days. I wanted to cry as there was enough to last us all month :(

He earns a lot more than me and he quiet regularly gives me money to pay off my card if he has any left at the end of the month but he just doesn't get how much better my, in fact our lives would be if we were debt free!! I feel a bit bad moaning about him but i'm so frustrated!!

It's hard when one person is in debt and the other isn't. My DH has been good with money and has savings. He does tend to be careful with money but I know we could do more to save more. My debts were run up before I met him so I don't expect him to pay them but sometimes I get frustrated as he does things like book three holidays in one year and I can't get straight after them. They were caravan holidays in Wales but still had to find spending/petrol money, etc.

Your doing fabulously and making headway into the debt.

    Enjoy the fish. :eek::eek::eek:

  • I'm feeling less frustrated today but sick at the thought of all the fish!! Think the dog will be having lots of fishy treats. I used most of my monthly food budget on the fish thinking we would save in the long run! How wrong was I!

Hublet books loads of gigs, holidays, nights away. I can't fault him for that but trying to explain to him without sounding ungrateful is really hard.. He recently bought me a ticket to go and visit my friend who lived abroad which was amazing but in the space of 5 weeks I had 2 weeks in Thailand, a weekend in centre parcs, a weekend in Devon and a wedding the following weekend. I had to get an advance on my wages from work, use all the little savings I had, go over my over draft and still had to put some things on my credit card :( I did make some amazing memories though and when I'm debt free i'm sure I will remember them more than sobbing in the bath as I had no money to buy essential lady things!

I might not be able to pay off as much as I wanted off my debt this month but as long as I pay some and don't add to it I will be happy. I have just paid off £40.98 which will take it down too £3900 after my monthly DD gets paid. I know by the time they add interest it will go up but I'm going to keep chipping away at it as much as I can!

    Have a nice day everyone :) x

Your DH sounds very generous but those five weeks sound exhausting.

Glad you have some good memories though.

  • Can the fish be frozen after it's cooked? Also, remember that you may go over a bit on your food budget if you are now getting lunches from home rather than buying them. Overall it will still be a saving so well done
