Hey,
I got an item delivered from amazon 6 days ago and noticed a scratch on it, i contacted them and they have agreed to send a replacement and collect the original item, my question is... What is amazon inspect the returned item and cant see the scratch? Can they refuse the return and charge me for both items? Or do theu have to accept it because they already agreed the replacement?
Regards

If you can see the scratch why won't they ?
Take a pic of it before you send it back ?0 -
What value item are we talking about? unless it was very expensive they'll not even worry about it - it would cost more to deal with it than the cost of the item.0

Its a tv screen, i noticed the scratch while the room was bright, but it can be differcult to see normally, the item was £519. Obviously a new item i dont expect a scratcj no matter how small, just wondering if they can reject it if they have already agreed and sent a replacement or0

Well, even if they can't see the scratch you can still cancel under distance selling legislation.
I find Amazon to be very good with returns anyway so I'll doubt you'll have any problems.0 -
How long does distance selling legislation last? I recieved the product on the 2nd of july0

When did you order it? If it was after 13th June 2014 then the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 apply, not the DSRs.
But you may be liable for the returns costs if you try to cancel this way. And as they've already agreed to a replacement then you're probably too late to even consider this path anyway.0 -
Sorry i am confused, so your saying i could be liable for the cost of the returned item? Even if they have agreed a replacement without even inspecting the item? I cant control what outcome they may have, i can only report what i believe to be a fault, if they can charge me for the original pending inspection then they should do that before agreeing to a replacement surely?0

IF you returned under DSRs then the buyer (per Amazon's legal T&Cs) may be liable for returns costs. (i.e. the cost to return the item).0

I have to say Amazon have always been brilliant to me when it comes to returns. The only way they would charge you is if you tried to return a different or obviously damaged TV.0

I don't think you have any cause to worry with returning to Amazon. We bought a trike for our daughter (circa £100) and, after building it, we found that it had a faulty axle on its second use. They agreed to replace on condition that we returned the original one within 30 days (at their cost). The replacement had the same fault, and we did the same again. Third was also faulty so I contacted the manufacturers direct and I they confirmed it must have been a faulty batch and sent me a new axle to replace the one which failed. Amazon didn't question the 2 returns at all. It was totally painless, apart from the fact that I built a trike 4 times!0
