Studio 24

Hi I'm new, really sorry if I've posted in the wrong place but I followed the link to PPI discussion but it was closed.

I've spoken with Studio this morning as I have just become aware I'm paying PPI. I have had this account for probably 10 years and never accepted or wanted this PPI.

I have also filled out the form on here to send to Studio but it appears that no one is being successful in there claims against Studio.

Please can anyone give me a good ending story?

Regards Mands xxx

It's a myth sponsored by claim companies that PPI was routinely added without the knowledge and permission of the customer. If you have it, you've simply forgotten about it.

If you didn't agree to the insurance, why have you waited 10 years to complain about it? It will have appeared on every monthly statement, that's 120 in ten years!

Regardless, Studio 24 were not regulated at the time you took out the insurance and can dismiss your complaint on that basis alone.
  • The only reason I failed to spot it is because I would just look at the statement and pay the minimum amount or at times in full. I may have had the account ten years but not always bought from them. Hence why I've probably missed it - I don't think we all study our bills hence why people are still claiming for PPI over the years.

I certainly NEVER signed up to it. I'm a stay at home mum I didn't need it. All our other debts, mortgage, loans we have said no to payment protection. This I found by mistake.

The company would say that you did agree (perhaps by telephone), regardless it's a pre-regulation complaint for which you can provide no evidence. If you purchased the insurance prior to January 14th 2005 then Studio 24 won't even have to consider any complaint.

I was pointing out the inherent weakness in your "complaint", not being judgemental about you not checking your statements. Most successful complaints are not due to people not checking their statements, it's because they were mis-sold the insurance and then could not cancel it.
  • But then how can they produce evidence that I agreed to the PPI? They can't because I didn't?

Just seems a very unfair system and there are quite a few Studio customers on the net who are fuming..

Oh well - one can only try - let's see what happens

As the accuser, it is you who have to provide the evidence of any wrong-doing.

That's why having the insurance for over ten years weakens your complaint so much. You complain that you didn't agree to it, but have paid it for a decade without any comment.

If you bought the insurance prior to regulation in 2005, your complaint will be rejected.

To be fair I may have had the account for 10 years but haven't bought a lot in that time x last purchase was over a year ago and I had placed an order that won't be able to be delivered until end of July. I got a statement and it just had the PPI on.

Yes my own fault I suppose but I'm not out for a quick buck! I may be a stay at home mummy but my husband earns a damned good wage working in a Barristers Chambers! I'm not some common dole dosser out for a quick buck and I object to the views above that I am!!!

I don't deserve rubbish for enquiring!!! Think I will leave this group now as obviously the little notification to the left about being kind to newbies obviously doesn't apply!

Thank you for your advice Moneyineptitude

In which case you won't have paid a lot of PPI..
