P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; }A:link { } Sorry, this is going back about 50 years, but I was then recently engaged to be married, and visiting my parents in Pittsburgh (academic father on a sabbatical year at a university there, The Cathedral of Learning, a gothic sky scraper) and my mother immediately bought 4 brand new silk dresses in a Thrift Shop for me and my three bridesmaid younger sisters. $4 each if I remember correctly. I think we looked stunning, confirmed by photographs.0

Again, Converse from the US in June, bought one pair in a standard shoe shop for about £40, then found some in a TK Maxx type shop (Ross Dress for Less) and they were £20. Came back with 5 pairs ......0

Real coffee in France (beans or ground).
Decent wine in Spain (Rioja that is good value here for around 8 pounds a bottle costs more like 3.50 Euro in supermarkets there).0 -
I stay with a friend in the US each year and always come back with:
Converse - as previously mentioned - plus I am a size 3 so the kids' ones fit and they are even cheaper! Clothes too - they do a nice range of Converse in Target
Make-up brushes. $1.99 for eyeliner/shadow/concealer brushes versus up to £15 here. Kabuki brushes for around $8
I always stock up on cotton face pads/buds too. Not sure if they're actually much cheaper, but they seem nicer.
Most like-for-like cosmetics are a lot cheaper too.
Interdental brushes - much cheaper there than anywhere I've found here/online
Reading glasses - a bit cheaper than Boots/UK opticians and a much better range than Poundland
Levi jeans for $15 per pair in Walmart - I order before I leave home for delivery to my friend's house and it saves me packing them.
Clothes, especially bras, seem to be cheaper in general and there are inevitably discounts/offers around so I avoid buying all year and then stock up over there for stuff that is 'different'.
Petrol - so cheap, I just wish I could bring it home with me!0 -
Tunisia - there are good fake handbags, but their local leather items, handbags, jackets, are great value.
Rugs are good as well. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Tip 1: Shop where the locals shop is the best way to find a bargain.
I'm going to Bali soon. One of the FAQs on the TA discussion forum has done a lot of the hard work for anyone on a shopping holiday (£1 = 20,000 rp)...

Tip 2: It's worth dipping into the TA FAQs before you travel. That little bit of research could save a lot of time and money.0 -
Defiantly converse from USA not only are they cheaper it's easier to buy large sizes my two sons take 13 & 14 uk sizes really expensive to buy here but got them 2/3 pairs each last year at around $30 a pair. also second Levi jean, if they were that much cheaper but managed to get 29" waist 36" inside leg never found them here they always have to buy them miles to big around the waist and wear a belt!Fibro-Warrior0

Am in US on holiday at the moment and have stocked up on clothes for while family - DKNY suit for husband for less than £100, GAP jeans for him for £5, jeans, shorts, hoodies and t shirts for daughter and son, Vans shoes for teenagers, Mac makeup and brushes for me. Got a real bargain at cosmetics outlet shop with two full size bottles of good perfume, Mac make up brushes, big eyeshadow set, bb cream, anti aging cream and something else all for £45. Will be stocking up on drugstore for over the counter med that are much cheaper here or not available over the counter at home.
Always balance saving and weight though - 13 year old daughter wanted bubble bath to take home but saving did not justify using half a kilo of luggage per bottle when we could use that weight for clothes.0
