What you want is event insurance, there are many distributors of such policies from high street names like John Lewis, through regular insurers like Hiscox to specialist distributors like Leisure Insure

What perils do you want to cover? Normal things like suppliers going bust etc?

    John Lewis do party insurance:

Cancellation due to death is excluded if the person is over 75 years old.

A broker could probably place the risk you want (through Lloyds you can insure anything you like), but you might find that the premium costs as much as the party.

No need to cancel if the person dies, simply have it as a celebration of their life.

Ask a friend who has a suitable garden, hire a big awning/gazebo type of thing and get everyone to bring various food and drink.
  • a 90th bithday party in Waltham Abbey. A private hall with bar catering to do, The birthday of John Walstow to be celebrated with private guests. His daughter my best friend is arranging this but wants to insure the function incase of illness.

Is this our only invitation - should we RSVP??

(Maybe also think about getting some life insurance on the g-o-h too.)
