This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning all,
Bright beautiful day here we have been lucky with the weather so far ! Off to work for me, I am not sure if I said or not but I applied for a supervisor position and was interviewed last week, I was offered the job and start today :T I am very excited and cant wait to get going, it means a permanent position and a hefty pay rise so to say I am pleased is an understatement
Burger in a bun with chips and salad tonight, not sure who's cooking its normally who ever gets in first.
Got the front garden done yesterday and cut the wisteria back a bit looks much tidier now.
Have good days all xx
Sistercas I rarely buy scallops either because of the price but I thought blow it for once

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
DH and DS1 up and gone to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was a naughty takeaway as DH fancied one, it was one of the better one’s although they were very busy and it took ages to be delivered.
Tonight we will have pies/chicken, pots, veg – this is food that we need to use up.
The weekend was excellent, at a great venue – loads of laughs and good fun, but most importantly we raised just over £3000 for Cancer Research. The weather Saturday didn’t look too promising then the sun came out and it was hot and sunny, we luckily didn’t get the rain until during the night, but then had a heavy downpour whilst the participants were doing the Charity Bike Ride, but it did only rain once but the roads were very wet and muddy – as it had rained so hard there was loads of standing water and puddles – lots with potholes too!
Back to work today – hoping it’s reasonably busy so the day passes quickly.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning redruby and all who cross/follow
Another lovely day here so overnight washing is on the line already. Am taking DD to chiropractor this morning, so even though I'm not in work, am still dashing as usual.
Didn't do meal plan at the weekend, so need to check the freezer and do that. Am slipping on unplanned food purchases and it's got to stop.
redruby - congratulations on the new job and hope your first day goes well x
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

Morning everyone.
Congratulations red ruby, that's a great start to the week, you must feel really proud of yourself. Hope it all goes well.
Not been 100% over the weekend so did little. Sat outside a lot and read. OH did lots of garden chores (well mostly mowed the lawn twice, tried out the old scratcher and then eyed up the even older sander...luckily we didn't have any sand!).
Fridge full. Washing machine empty and dishwasher emptied. Quiet week here I hope as I gather my strength back. Got a couple of 'Kate Brannigan' books to read so I reckon now is a good time.
Happy Monday everyone.0 -
Woke up this morning in the middle of an anxiety attack which has never happened before - very unsettling. I haven't had a daytime attack for months, but I am stressing a bit about a pelvic scan I have coming up on Wednesday. Think I'm most worried about how I will drink 2 pints of water and not wet myself!
Got a lovely bit of beef for half price yesterday so we had a roast dinner, making carbonara for tonight.
Messed up my days, DS2 home tonight not yesterday! I can't wait to see him
Went to beekeeping yesterday and instructor was really stroppy to me at one point. I didn't think much of it but after DH and another pupil came up to me and said what a cow she had been - I must be thick skinned as I didn't seem as bothered by it as they were!
Had to stake my bush tomato plants yesterday - do bush varieties normally need staking?
Will tidy house today and then stick on a DVD and try to do a bit more knitting. DD broke up a week ago from school and has only left the house (and her computer) twice since then, so might have to drag her out somewhere before she gets rickets!
A big congrats to those with successes to celebrate, and hugs to those who need them. Have a wonderful day all xx0 -
Morning all
Red Ruby - congratulations on your new job.
Its a lovely bright sunny morning here so the WM is on with its 1st load - only another 3 to go then I shall be upto date with the washing.
Yesterday started out lovely, we went for a walk along the local canal, sat and had a flask of tea then went foraging for wild plums, managed to get 2 carrier bags full, came home around 4:30 just in time as we had the most awful thunder storm which took all the electric out in the village, just as I was putting our dinner in the oven! it didn't come back on till 8'o clock so we had sandwiches for tea instead as I didn't going to bed on a heavy meal.
Nothing much happening here today, just washing, cleaning, mowing the lawns & jam making.
Tea tonight is what we was meant to be having yesterday....HM chicken & veg pie with new potatoes and broccoli
Hope you all have a lovely day xG.C July £21.09/£1000 -
Morning :hello:
redruby Congratulations :T

I was peeling garlic yesterday, the kitchen still smells quite strong, lol. Add in the scent from a couple of over-ripe nectarines in the fruit bowl and it's quite interestingI've opened the window and doors to give the room a good airing.
I'm getting all my jobs done early this morning to get them out of the way. Little niggly things that if left, end up being extremely annoying.
Not sure what we're doing today, but wherever we end up, I'll be crocheting my Nan's blanket. I've put the yarn, etc. in a bag ready to go. Also packed a notebook and my diary. And two pens, in case one runs outNo phone, people can wait.

Good Morning, OS'ers  - beautiful start to the day here on Merseyside
- though I suspect that, later in the day, it may get a little bit too hot for MY liking
.
Congratulations, redruby :j - hope the first day in the new job goes well for you.to those who aren't feeling very well just now -
that you're soon feeling better.
Thanks for the welcome yesterday and :hello: to any other new posters to the thread.
Plans for today include- visit to DD's - dgd1 is 'not-so-sweet' 16 today. Not really true as she is VERY sweet really - but she's been giving her mother an extremely trying time recently, thanks to that newly-acquired, and very much-lamented, tradition of 'The School Prom'. Her poor mother has spent an-arm-and-a-leg on pandering to her wishes, so Heaven alone knows what's expected for this particular birthday
.
- have also promised DD that I'll save her the effort of a trip to the Town Centre. dgd2 (age6) needs an Inflatable Beach Ball (traditional type) for a 'Summer Holiday - film' event in the school playground after school today - possibly an inflatable guitar as well IF I can find one. There's been mention that Poundworld have them in stock .............. Praise the Lord for the free-bus-pass!
- planning on Turkey Steak topped with Sweet Chilli Sauce served with Salad for evening meal tonight. Think there's some large Soft Tortillas in the freezer that can be used as wraps to go with it
. Stewed Plums with SmartPrice FF Yoghurt for dessert .
OH has just gone out for a doc's appointment, so I need to go and get myself showered and ready to get out BEFORE the day has passed me by.
Should be enough to keep me out of mischief for the remainder of the day - well maybe not
Have a good day everybody -- Lilyplonk x

Morning everyone, a bran new day.Blue sky and little white clouds here in Hampshire. Every one should be outside for at least half an hour for wellness today. It helps you feel better, the sun on our skin.
Sadly, I have just poured 3/4 of a 4 pint milk bottle down the sink and run some cold water. Unusual for us to waste stuff.
This morning I am going for a walk around town, looking in some shops.
I like the Marks and spencer outlet store. I have 20 pounds of vouchers to spend in that shop from completing surveys.
Crafting - I am knitting my 4th baby cardigan for an expected grandchild.
This one I am doing in moss stitch so is taking a bit longer. Lilac and blue trim. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
Good morning everyone :j
It's a beautiful day here today so I'm making the most of it and got the washing on. I've been really busy this morning as I've cleaned our bedroom and steam cleaned the bathroom. I had to have a shower then as I was dripping yuk! I am going to tackle the living room after a cuppa and a mess around on the computer and then I have a doctors appointment for a general health check at 10.30. I know I am going to be nagged at about my weight but I will tell them I've lost 5.5lb in the last 2 weeks with Slimming World so I hope they won't go on at me too much.
Tea tonight will be cottage pie and loads of fresh veg much to the disgust of my teens. I might make a pudding too if I feel like it.
Congratulations to RedRuby on your promotion  well done, it's nice to be recognized for your abilities.
Well, hope everyone manages to have a great day whatever you are up to. Take care xxx0 -
Hi everyone,
Redruby congratulations, I hope your first day goes well.
Hester - I hope this is your last week and is not too stressful.
I have several errands to run - DS needs a suit cleaned for Thursday, I have to pick up some school uniform for Dneice (I order it because we get staff discount on top of the 20% off offer already on) and take the car in to have a quote for some bodywork. I hope the last isn't too expensive, DH backed into a bollard - I've told him he's become too reliant on the reversing camera and beepers in the new car, the bollard was at the side so there was nothing to warn him.
I also want to finish cutting out the fabric for the latest quilt - 240 pieces, all different so it's taking some time.
Have a good day.0
