Insurance reviews by people who have claimed

Hello. I'm in the process of looking for car insurance and travel insurance (AND possibly home insurance). I can find plenty of "reviews" of companies, with reviews by people who have not claimed. Which is like doing a review of Sainsbury's products by wandering into the supermarket, having a quick nose around, and leaving without buying anything.
Does anyone out there know of somewhere I can review insurance companies with reviews written by people who have actually claimed, and therefore actually experienced the quality/usefulness of their policy? I know from previous experience that some policies are not worth the paper they're written on.
Anyone had any experience of Insurance Republic for travel insurance claims?
Thanks!

Insurance Republic are unlikely to do anything beyond sell you the policy, its underwritten by AmTrust Europe and claims/ complaints handled by CityMain Administration.
Travel is one area of insurance where tiny brands exist purely to sell you the policy. In theory they could have bespoke wording but in most cases I suspect this is not the case and it'll just be a case of which optional extras they include/exclude as standard that'll differentiate them from the other 50+ brands that sell the same insurers product.
If you are concerned about product quality then look at the Defaqto star ratings which gives a reasonable view on the product itself. Though do take them with a bit of a pinch of salt as like hotel star ratings it is possible to build to a rating and so not all 5 star products are equal.0 -
Yes, I am inclined to go with a company I've actually heard of. Not that that's any guarantee of quality - Cornhill is a pretty well-known insurance company and judging by the experience I had with them a few years back (car insurance / no fault accident), they are worse than useless! I would explain further, but the language I'd be forced to use would probably result in me getting banned from this forum!0
