Where is the best place to buy wheel caps?

Hi folks

I recently bought a Seat Ibiza 1.4 and would like to replace the wheel caps. Are they all the standard size or would I have to measure them with a ruler etc?

I suppose ebay is the best place to buy them?

Finally, how do I remove the old wheel caps and replace them with new ones?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

When you say "wheel caps" do you mean caps over the wheel nuts, or wheel trims, which cover the whole wheel up to the wheel outer rim?

If you mean wheel trims, you need the size of your wheels. On the tyre will be a string of numbers, beginning with '15 or 16 or 17/XXXXXXX' or similar number. That is the size of wheel trim you need. The same information will be in the car's manual, look in the Index for "Wheels & tyres" or similar.

Most big supermarkets, Halfords (expensive) or a local auto parts shop, will have them. Some large B&Q stores and similar outlets also stock them. Big car boot pitches often have them.

    Good luck, they are everywhere!

    Hiya
    Thank for your reply, Robisere.

I mean the little round caps which basically fit in the middle centre of the alloy wheels.

If it's centres for alloys, you pretty much have to buy the right one for the wheel. Prices can vary in a big way.

In the first instance though, if there's one by you, talk to your local TPS ("Trade Parts Specialists", rather than the Seat parts counter, as they can be quite cheap.

Most of them can be a bit grumpy on the phone, so I find it's easier to go in.

If you've got a centre cap, take it in with you and they'll generally be able to get the part number straight off the back. Or if you want to find it yourself, the part number will be moulded on the back, it will be 4 groups of three characters, followed by 1-3 letters.

    Failing that - ebay!
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

If you have the set, but they look shabby, repaint them.

When I lost one of the 50p plastic centres from my Corsa, a new one was TWENTY POUNDS from vauxhall, so I got one off ebay, removed the other 3 and stuck them in the boot until I sold it.
