Locks which operate with keys from inside & Burglars Beware Sticker

Hi Members,

Good Morning.

For the last 4 weeks , I have been doing house hunting.

I do not know if this is a coincidence or is there a link between the following two things.

Houses which have got locks that work from inside with the help of a key, I mean you can lock from inside with the help of a key and these houses have stickers on the front door with message "Burglars Beware , this property is marked"

I have noticed this on 4-5 houses in different areas. I did ask one of the owners if there has been a burglary in this property and I was told no.

My guesses are
1) Above two things could be security prevention technique.
2) Only after a burglary has happened , such locks need to be installed and the doors should display the sticker.

I am a bit confused

Is there anyone who has got some info on this?

Thank you.

Those stickers and markings are often supplied free by the police as "crime prevention" efforts. Internal locks are good for keeping nosy house guests at bay ;) I don't think either of these things really tell you anything.

Both my front and back doors have ASSA locks which operate with keys from inside and outside. The patio doors have different locks, but keys also operate from inside and out.

I don't see what the issue is.

Some insurers offer discounts for particular types of locks, alarms and membership of a neighbourhood watch scheme.

Main door locks that are secured with keys are usually recommended for doors with window panes. This is to prevent a burglar from breaking the glass and just opening the latch to get into the property.

if you want to know about burglary stats for the area, go to police.uk and search by postcode.
