I find Americans aren't impressed much by mountains and lakes and forests, as trhier landscape's much more varied than ours. They find European cityscapes and castles etc. are pretty interesting, as US cities are often a bit more samey than European ones. If you're meeting in London see if you can track down the plaque where the old Texas embassy was
It always tickles them that Texas used to have embassies in Washington, London and Paris.
Torbrex kindly put a map on his thread showing the route they took around all the castles.
Your US pal may find that Glasgow or Edinburgh's grid pattern minds them of the layout of US city centres. Feel free to point out it's the other way round..

I wasn't looking for the rude words, it was more the naked bodies you promised me

 ta. She's not the typical American and loves all the landscapes. We're kind of castled out after our Wales trip last time she was here (via the Forest of Dean/Snowdonia and a lovely 3 hour wait on the M1 because of a crash). To be honest we're the same regarding travelling, we ignore all the tourist stuff and live like locals. Also she's very much looking forward to penny bargain hunting :rotfl:
Edit: We'll be in London most of the time as she's staying at mine and I'm planning to drive her over to Bruges for the day as she can't quite understand the Eurotunnel and the concept of driving onto a train.'I solemnly swear that I am up to no good'0 -

When soon-to-be-Mrs Zag lived over there I used to take the train to Boston and to New York regularly. Trains are incredibly basic over there. It's a little bit weird, as if like finding that the space shuttle's got a rotary-dial telephone in it (which it doesn't!).
In New Orleans there were streetcars, and San Francisco had trams and an underground. Most US cities didn't seem to have anything much like that though. Taking her to an Indian restaurant's probably a good idea; the portions are more like US -sized but make sure she has something mild (Tindaloo/Zalfrezi/Madras/Vindaloo are probably too hot)
Enjoy!
Good night
We have a favourite curry house we order from when she's here. I've been to all those places you mentioned, most of them with her actuallyThe only thing I have be careful of is in the past she had an eating disorder and sometimes being around a huge amount of food can be difficult, but she's come along way since then, but I'm still mindful in case something triggers.
