My kiddies were horrid yesterday but decided to make it up this morning. They sorted their own breakfasts and brought me breakfast in bed. So sweet. (Would have been even sweeter if it had been after 7am but you can't have it all.)
Briefly read back. I think I'm on the opposite end to savvy on the song front but tbh I'd rather they just used their brains a bit more and chose different language so there was no need to censor. One particular which comes to mind is James Blunt, loved the radio version where he used 'flying', bought the cd and it was replaced with 'f###ing'. No need but better than bleeping!
Anon, we have never had problems with having more people in travelodge or days inn. (Did you try them?) I've previously rung them to check and it's never an issue. Although mine are all under 7 so can squish them in better. :rotfl:
Grrrr!!:mad::mad::mad::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Yes I heard the radio version of that song in public place and didn't have any problem with it - I found it very boring but it didn't cause me offence.
(Was there any need to stamp that word into the post by stapling it into the text with hashes? Stamping it into, not taking it out. Now I've highlighted it - unacceptably, but hey ho...)littlebluebird wrote: »[...]

(Not that would do anything, as I'd still know what other word was being referred to.)
My beef is/was with that Lily Allen song. She does *not* say "very fantastic", instead in the radio version it contains the signature presence of the other word. It sounds like she is saying it under her breath. It also makes the word sound very annoying - and, no, I would not consider it acceptable for children to imitate the way in which it sounds in the radio version. (It is not like bllleeeeeeepp, which can be imitated as the elongated word "bleep" and which is an always acceptable word.) It adds annoyance to offence, which it still maintains and contains and has managed to get me on probably about five or six separate occasions.
They do not replace it by "very". Instead they keep the original language, only in an annoying manner. (And so easy it would have been to have have her saying "...very fantastic", but they chose not to do so and took the lazy option instead. That being the producer of the (still unsuitable for) 'radio' version, I've no problem with the original in appropriate circumstances. I don't regard the original as 'lazy' and it's never been played in the public places anyway so has caused me no problem - the original, in the right place, is actually funny but the radio version manages to take all of that out. It removes that impact, and replaces with a context in which the language, which it still contains, is offensive.)
There is also a lot of inconsistency to the alteration globally (not editing, since the language is not edited out merely changed in sound to an annoying manner and neither does it censor it or what she said in any way merely censors the original way it sounded and replaces it by a more offensive sound). Sometimes - in songs which are partially altered and played 'late at night' - albeit they do not cause me offence as I am listening to them alone - they alter 'milder' words only to leave in the unaltered version of 'more severe' ones.
As a post elsewhere on the Internet suggests, I think I'm looking for consistency where there is none. Apparently these so-called 'edits' are done by junior staff at the record companies who are just told to 'take out' (though they completely fail) anything inappropriate. Different people have different views as to what is 'appropriate' however, and thus alter different things. They obviously don't listen back to their creation at all, otherwise they would know it was unacceptable.
Anyway folks, must get on, limited time to do my own shopping.:)0 -
