Are you sure you haven't got what is called a dry socket . This can happen when you have a tooth out as I know to my cost. Never heard of it before though.

Sadly I've had 2 terminal crashes plus I swapped from orange to sky and only over the last few years have I become disciplined about saving everything vital to my stick - to long ago emails have vanished into the ether
