Is it cocaine:eek::eek: that's how you stay up so late:D:D

I did a double take when I saw it too :rotfl:

I don't know whether I wrap mine shiny side in or out tbh, I think I might be whatever the equivalent of ambidextrous is in the foil world :)

    No :(

the brace will help his speech no end. His front teeth catch on his top lip and are impairing his speech. He's entitled to a brace but his sensory problems mean he can't be awake whilst they fit it. He's had all his previous dental treatment done under GA.
I can understand the constraints on budgets so I haven't argued about the funding.....on this occasion.

I think that's disgraceful personally. It's not your son's fault he has sensory problems, and he is being discriminated against because of his condition (is that the right word, sorry if not) by being made to pay.

I had GA last year to have a wisdom tooth out, as I am terrified of the dentist and was too scared even for sedation. I wasn't even charged the amount they would charge you at the dentist under NHS charges to remove the tooth, and whilst I would have paid it, I really think your son's situation is entirely different.

So sorry Ladyshopper, that he got a bad deal.

Other side of the coin. My niece is emergency rapid response in London. She dealt with humongous stuff on 7/7. This is a transcript of a call she received yesterday. A lot of her shifts are taken up with calls like these.

Me: "good morning, I'm Sam pleased to meet you. How can we help you today?"
Patients friend: oh you took your time! We've been waiting hours for you lot to show up! 999 what a joke, could have got a bloody taxi quicker ...... She's over there finishing her cigarette . We think her drink was spiked"
    I give up.

Thankfully, she doesn't give up in RL. I have lovely testaments to the people that she's saved. My very own special :A.
    Good morning everyone .

Totally get the other side of the coin, I'm a police officer so know all about the total rubbish 999 calls all the services get. I just think this was very poor with a 16 year old lying on the pavement with a head injury to not even turn up.

As I said, the off duty medic that stopped, ambulance car we flagged down and the hospital were all fantastic. I feel sad that our NHS, which is a great system, is let down so much by lack of funding. My son was lucky, it could have been so much worse.

The criteria for having a brace fitted on NHS is quite stringent anyway. I think he's just on the right side of it. I can't fault the dental staff, he's had a brilliant service from them...all free, probably at a high cost to them. They really did try their utmost to attempt the brace fitting with him awake, but it just wasn't possible.
I have pushed for funding before and been successful. I'm not sure I would be this time. He's not in pain and his teeth aren't really bad enough to justify it. I just feel it's a hinderance he could do without on top of everything else and it does bother him. So, Im ok with paying for it.

Thanks for posting about mighty deals :)

Just signed up and got a voucher. May do another for me Mam later if it's still going.

I've got an interview today. I don't think it's my kind of series but obviously am going anyway to see what's what. Nerves aren't too bad as I've been recommended directly by my previous company's exec, plus this company is in the same building :)

    See you all laters

    Good Luck with the job
