    Evening all

Sunshine here at last after a few dismal wet days.

Apologies I am a bit behind but hope everyone is well.

PD I have made a chocolate sponge cake which I plan to cut the middle out of to fill with sweets. I want to do a fresh cream filling. Would it work if I use extra thick cream whipped with a bit of nutella as I think cocoa powder will be too bitter.
If a sucess I plan a pink layer cake with jelly tots and dolly mix in for dd 30th. Hergrandad and I always called her doll doll when she was little and I must admit I still call her doll now so I thought dolly mixtures would be fun.

Practically a nsd except I bought a birthday card.

    Right off to read back.

    good evening :)

What a hive of hyperactiveness my house is this evening  fun days, merit awards, clothes being worn that aren't school uniform, money needed for the pleasure of taking part in all these things, packed lunches, progress reports........Last week of school :D

Loving all the old photos tonight :T:T I will have to look through mine. They live in a dark place where you can't see the spiders that you know are there, so I'll get OH to go and fetch them out for me sometime over the next few days.

The Rockys are 80p at Sainsbo for the next week and the Maryland and Penguins are at todays reduced price for the next two weeks. So the glitch should keep working - providing asda dont end the 4 for £3 offer :)

It does get better - honestly! My three are now almost 29, 27 and 24 and they are all lovely, kind and helpful people who I would like even if they weren't my children! They've been a tower of strength since my dh has been ill and have offered so much kindness and support - very different to the grunts and strops of a few years ago! I can still remember a few hairy teenage moments and the difficulty of standing by what I said in the face of their hormone fuelled hostility!

I agree totally with Fairclaire - keep calm (as much as you possibly can) and stick to your guns as consistently as is humanly possible. It sounds as if you are doing a great job of that already.

Regarding designer clothes and shoes - when mine were teenagers I gave them an amount of money for all their basic 'needs' e.g. enough to buy a reasonable pair of trainers, joggers, whatever, and told them that if they wanted a designer brand then they had to put the rest of the money towards it. They all had part-time jobs from age 13 (started with paper rounds) and had to save for the luxuries!

As a pp said, when they have to pay towards 'designer' it is amazing how much designer stuff they manage without and they take much better care of the things they have contributed to too!

PS - I would be inclined to tell ds that if he pulls the missing the bus stunt again you will be deducting your petrol money from any clothes you might buy and/or extend the time you retain his phone!

He came home from school, all sheepish tonight, and has apologised for his outburst.

We have come to a decision, that we will give him an allowance for trainers and clothes, and like you say if he wants the designer bits, then he has to earn them or pay the extra to get what he wants.

He realises he cant have everything he wants when he wants it.

I have told him I am disgusted with his behaviour today, and I am not running him to school all the time if he misses the bus as I have other things to do and cant justify the petrol its costing me. Had a good chat about it all, and hopefully he realises, that money doesnt just appear in my purse for him to spend as and when he likes.
