Hello,
Do you have any spare time on a night? Working as a personal tutor doesn't require any specific teaching qualifications, although with you pursuing that route it's really helpful that you have a passion / future in that type of role. You don't have to build it up yourself, maybe try a tuition business? For any ages up to GCSE and with a degree you will be fine and it's relevant for next years PGCE.
Hope this helps,

Without knowing the OP's degree subject, that's pretty optimistic advice.0 -
Hi Wiggy - good to see that you are still going great! Have you thought about registering with a supply agency for TA jobs? Here's one - not sure about your area, but you can put in your location and see what comes up - that might be a start for you. xxxx
It is http://www.teachingpersonnel.com/
Good luck xx0 -
You haven't been a lazy slob Wiggy - you have been a full time Mum and you have also started building the foundations for your future. It would be easier to get a job as a TA with your Maths qualification I think. Keep applying but it is very competitive - many of the posts go internally and, as you say, there are a lot of cutbacks. If nothing comes up, try to get a regular volunteer spot in a local school as this will help you a lot in your PGCE application. And, as above, try teaching agencies. Sign up now as the CRB takes an age and unfortunately they will expect you to pay for that.
What is your degree in? The biggest demand for tuition is for Maths and English as you would expect and many parents do look for tutors with teaching experience but there may be an opening there I suppose but this is the wrong time of year generally.
Keep building those foundations for the future as to be honest 22 is still so young - you have another 45+ years to work and pay your way."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
