Had to go to vets today to pick up my dogs ashes. The staff there have been so kind and understanding in every way.

Eating from the freezer this evening again. Just need to do some veg with it so will be easy. I don't feel like doing much cooking.
I may cook soupthough for my lunches later this week.

I must start doing end of year accounts for DH but may leave it till tomorrow.
  • Sorry to hear about your dog villagelife. My two cats were put down a year apart, both had serious illnesses. Very very sad :(

Just a quick one from me. I am ill! I seem to have picked up a cold in the last 24 hours, so am now sneezing and sniffling. Feel pretty rough but powered on through work today. Now just resting, aiming to get an earlyish night.
Fed up of paying off someone else's mortgage so saving for a deposit for my own home :D

    As of 20/07/2015: £35000 / £35000 :T :T :j

Now saving for stamp duty and furniture

Had ok day at work - keepimg out of bosses way. She's retiring in May and I'm counting down. The atmosphere is awful on the 2 days I work with her - far more enjoyable at the other site I work at.

Tea is cooled in slow cooker I just need to put potatoes on to cook and then its ready.

I did some of the accounts yesterday but need to do more of them. It has been started which is always the hardest bit so more will be done this evening.

Very quick hello, am on iPad so not typing much now, but am reading all your news. Tomorrow I hope to write more about my lovely trip and catch up with you all. Good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Pleased you're having a good trip to York Caterins and looking forward to hearing about it.

Spent most of the day on training courses. One of the speakers was very good and funny and the others weren't quite as good. It kept me away from boss as well. I saw her for about an hour and she managed to stress me and blamed me for training at a different site which was her idea! I have worked it out that I only need to see her for another 23 days before she retires.

My pear tree has arrived that we are going to plant with my dogs ashes so that will need to be planted soon when both sons are home.

I have to menu plan as I need to use up stuff from the freezer as it needs emptying and for me to be more organized when I fill it again.

Finally I get a moment (on the iPad but will try my best).

Villagelife it is good that they were gentle and sensitive at the vets, it is such a painful thing, to lose a beloved pet (((hugs))). How lovely that you are planting a pear tree in memory, we did the same, planted a fuchsia plant where our beloved cat Twist is buried.

Amandaatnumberseven, sorry that you are in such restricted financial circumstances, I hope that you find at least a good flexible job that allows you a bit of breathing space money wise but still enough time for your children and family.

Icey I hope you enjoyed Wiltshire, glad your floor is done now, you must be starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel!

MOS it must be hard to be allergic to your own pets, hope you find a solution. A long time ago I heard that you could get a homeopath to do a preparation with your pet hairs to desensitise you, not sure if it really works, just an idea, if you want to get in touch with a homeopathic pharmacy they might be able to help, who knows.

CyclingLondonSaver I hope you get better soon! Well done for returning to the OS fold after a bit of a spend. I need to do the same after my trip.

Thank you all for your good wishes for my trip, it was great, in the first place it was fantastic to stay and sleep in a dust-free, normal house! The first day we just went to look at sheds as we like one particular firm that has the headquarter in Yorkshire, then we went to DH's cousin in the evening.

Second day, York, wandered about, I bought an oil spray mister to help me with my diet. Then went and sabotage it all by having cake at Betty's. Can't go to York and miss Betty's!

Third day we drove to Whitby, it is a fantastic, scary, gothic place, with the ruins of the Abbey on the edge of the sea, fascinating and atmospheric, but scary! Best fish and chips in the world, though!

Next day, our last day, we popped in to drop some quinces to an OSer living in Yorkshire. Then we went to visit our very dear OSer Ginnyknit, I had meant to visit for a while but did not have a chance until this time.

We had a nice chat and a cup of tea then it was time to go home.

It has been a lovely, much needed break. Now, back to OS, and dieting to lose the masses of weight I have put on lately!

    Good night.

    Good morning :)

DH and I had a lovely day out yesterday, we went to Borough Market :) I had been before, several years ago with Caterina and some other OS-ers and it was still amazing! I had a lovely paella lunch from one of the stalls and DH had fresh potato gnocchi with pesto - yum yum.

We mooched around and looked at all the amazing produce, some of which I've never seen before.

Caterina, the end is in sight! We have carpeting to lay in the remainder of the house which is booked for 2 weeks time and then we're done. I do have to book the carpenter for a day or so to build us a hall cupboard and hang 2 doors but this is small fry in comparison and as I like this chap it's not a hardship to have him in the house :) after that I've told DH if he ever suggests such a project again I shall divorce him ;)

Today we're going to the local indoor climbing centre to look at the walls etc, they offer a kids climbing class from 3 years and we think Frog will love it. We're going to suggest to one set of grandparents to buy her a set of classes for her birthday which is less than a month away  which reminds me I have to get my bottom in gear and look at slides for her birthday present from us, hopefully I can find a nice one in the tesco catalogue and use my points ;) I also have to start planning the party bags etc, I don't want to spend loads on tat that will end up in the bin!

    Good morning,

Icey I am so pleased for you, having all the work done by decent people! My experience of builders goes from bad to worse, the friendly Italian builder has turned sloppy and greedy, did one room well but took his time (paid by the day), then I gave him "the talk" about taking too long and he did a carp job in the second room. And we still have to decorate and put up the skirting board, and change the french windows. Am on my knees with despair at the state of the house (and our finances!) after a year of ongoing works, it never ends! The worst part is that DH keeps saying that he will do it but then doesn't. If I had another life I'd know NEVER to marry an architect again!

    Anyway, OS plan:

My work today has been cancelled (book-keeping for friend), half fed up because of continuing cancellations, but mostly pleased as it will give me a chance to do a couple of runs to the tip in the car with DS to get rid of the rest of the rubble bags from the front garden.

Then I am planning to attack and finish the shirts ironing mountain. I was hoping that the girl lodging with us (don't ask, long story) would do some, the agreement is very low rent but a few hours of housework, but am not sure what time she is going to work. Will catch her before she goes for a reminder (in 3 weeks she has just done a bit of cleaning, nothing near enough the agreement we had).

Anyway, what she doesn't do I will have to do. I just can't stand the mess anymore.

Food wise I am on slimming world diet because my weight has been spiralling out of control, so am about to go and make myself a nice breakfast of vege sausages and baked beans with mushrooms and tomatoes.

    Have a good OS day.

  • Caterina - your trip sounds lovely and I imagine it was much needed.
It is hard to do housework when someone else is supposed to be doing it. Hopefully having a word with your lodger will improve the situation.

Today I think I will sort out and tidy the house and hopefully manage a couple of hours in the garden.
I do need to buy more pellets for my chickens but I think thats all I need to buy.

Yesterday was quite a productive day. House is tidier and done bits like cleaning down part of a wall which has had a mark on it for a while. Also started some cleaning of DS1 bedroom.

In the garden I built more of my wall as I've found more stones over the past couple of months. I also redug a couple of my veg beds.

DS2 came home briefly to pack as he is at present on his way to a skiing holiday. His friend's family has an apartment in a swiss ski resort so makes it cheaper for them. He was very talkative and excited.

Today I'm going to watch rugby and hopefully meet a friend first for coffee. First I need to do a small amount of tidying after breakfast of scrambled eggs.
