Have I imagined a multi coloured climbing rose? I thought had seen one on ebay but cant find it now and google isn't being much help !

No, you haven't. They exist. Joseph's coat is a popular one. I'm not a fan of it personally ( cannot stand the colour combination) but others love it!
Handel is another. If I think of any more I'll edit them in.
To see them if you google image 'rose Handel' and 'rose Joseph's coat' you'll get plenty of pictures.
