Can someone clear up if you can take aerosols on checked luggage NOT hand luggage! I've read conflicting posts on different forums about whether you can or can't.

I've never seen anything that says you can't.0 -
yes you can - in both checked and hand luggage.0

Really - I would've thought that they qualify as liquids >100ml.0

You can take aerosols in checked baggage but not in carry on bags.
This is a CAA restriction and airlines do not have the option to ignore this.
There are also restrictions as to the amount and quantity of aerosols in checked baggage,0 -

okay, all i can say is every time i take hand luggage only, i take a small hairspray in it (under 100mls). I have never been questioned or stopped from taking it, its always in the see-through bag I present going through security.0 -
I've just double checked my manual (I have a dangerous goods manual for work use) and you are correct.
Aerosols containing toiletry liquids can be carried provided they are protected with a cap and are below 100ml.

From the CAA (http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/3/PAS_travelsafely.pdf)...WHAT YOU CAN TAKE ON BOARD
Medical items or toiletries
(including aerosols)
such as hair sprays, deodorants, perfumes
and aftershaves, in containers of up to
500g/500ml* each, to a total of 2kg/2l*
NOTE – Additional security restrictions mean that liquids (e.g. spirits, toiletries) in containers
of more than 100ml capacity must either be
packed in checked baggage or purchased after
the airport security check point. With the prior
agreement of the airline and the departure
airport, essential medicines for the period of
the trip may be permitted in quantities above
100ml, providing the passenger can produce
supporting documentation from a relevant
qualified medical professional.0 -
I always take aerosols in both hand/cabin baggge (under 100ml in clear plastic bag with other liquids) and checked/hold luggage and have never had any problems
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0
