Has anyone else experienced problems where they have a really unco-operative solictor who when questioned about what is outstanding on the conveyencing will not tell either the estate agents or my solictor the whole story!! Its the solicitor of the people im buying from and there at a loss as to why he is being so obnoxious either! They were in exactly the same stage as i was as they had already found a property to buy when i had my offer accepted and the chain ends there and i have been ready to exchange for a week and a half! I cant see us exchange until the end of next week it is so frustrating!!

Yes, it frequently happens as the solicitor is acting on behalf of the buyer. If there are any holdups, then that sol needs to consult with HIS client in order to take further instructions.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

I know exactly what you mean! Last week I was told by my solicitors that they had instructed searches - twice this week I phoned the Local council who had no record of it, so I chased solicitors who then confirmed that they had only just done it!
I had an update from my EA today who told me that our purchasers solicitors were waiting for searches also - I phoned the local council and found out that they hadn't received instructions either. My EA then phoned the purchaser who was very annoyed because she had already given consent for searches a week ago, she then phoned their solicitor - not long after my EA phoned me back to confirm searches had been requested this afternoon!
A few peeps on MSE told me to chase solicitors if you want a quick transaction -and my god how right they are!!!"A" is for Opple if yowm spaking loike a yamyam!0
