Gear Stick question

and they don't accept being told how to drive
Agree with that part, just bought a new Focus ST2 with the Ecometer which tells you when to change up gear, drives me mad as it wants to change up just under 2K revs - in a 250bhp hot hatch. and you cant turn the stupid thing off :-(
If I wanted to save fuel that badly I would have got the 1.0 ecoboost engine not the 2.0 Turbo.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -
im naughty as is my mother, we both do it all the time
no ill affects to report
however in theory i can understand how it could damage it0 -
Handbook for my Civic Type R said "don't leave hand on the gear stick" cos the lever came out of the dash at very tempting angle for hand resting.
Indout96 - know what you mean about the annoying gear change dictator - pain in the proverbial. Got that problem on my Mini Coupe too!!0 -
I was always told that resting your hand on the lever can cause premature wear on the thrust bearings.
But that aside, if you want to be pedantic then you should have both hands on the steering wheel whenever possible otherwise you're "not in proper control of the vehicle" ( or some such ! ) I'm sure a member of the IAM will be along shortly to say pretty much the same0
