Supermarket Offers - BIG Vent

While Aldi and Lidl have some price promotions, the point is that they do not appear to intentionally overprice items in order to reduce them. I have yet to see a 'Buy x get x free' offer in Aldi, the occasional promotions are simple price reductions (when the original prices were good value anyway).

As for shopping online, there are just too many 'promotions' to wade through to find the real bargains. Take the Asda website, I just checked it and they have 3,753 "special offers" on at the moment.

I'm not really bothered by promotions. I know, for example, that a bag of Kettle chips is worth about £1, so it doesn't bother me if it's half price from £2 or £2 and BOGOF. When it's £2 and not on promotion, I don't buy it, because Tyrell's crisps are on offer this week, and I know Kettle Chips will be on promotion next week.

As long as you go into a supermarket knowing that they're trying to [STRIKE]screw you over[/STRIKE] make more profit with promotions, it's much easier to judge everything you see and work out the value of it.

It also doesn't bother me when there's tonnes of choice at different weights and prices, because they put the price per £ underneath. So with cheese, for example, I simply pick the lowest price mature cheddar that I can see.

Same with the burgers. Numbers of product can be deceptive, so I look at the product weight and compare that.

I'm also not convinced that reading the labels before you buy something is that difficult. The labels are the size of two large postage stamps - it doesn't take much time to read the small print.

With burgers you also have to factor in the quality - are you getting VFM?
    What's the meat/beef content percentage?
    What's the fat content percentage?
Fresh meat aisle burgers on reduced price don't have this information displayed, so although very cheap, don't be surprised when you get them home and they taste a bit like bacon.

I agree, although it is a hassle not being able to buy when something isn't on promotion due to the extortionate full price. Take Pringles, some weeks they may not be on promotion meaning they really cost £2.50, whereas in Aldi the Stackers are 80p week in week out.

I dont mind the slightly confusing promotions but it does pi$$ me off are the non special offers,
My boy loves hot dog sausages and his faves are the 99p ones from tesco, a few weeks ago I went to get some and the price had changed to £2.49 but were buy 2 get 1 free, so 3 packs for £4.98 insted of £2.97 before the offer started. 2 weeks later they are back to 99p

    Don't be silly :D

The OP can't cope with working out the prices on stuff let alone reading about meat and fat content too.

Best idea is to make your own.

Stackers are nowhere near the same as Pringles.

So, your idea of good service is to make the customers have to really work if they want to get the best deals?
