A red brick wall with a fireplace

These are two fire-places in a house I'm renovating. The one at the top is in the sitting room and and I would like to put a wood burner in there.

The one below is in the kitchen and I've already made it higher to around six feet and installed a lintel. I thought I had a pic of it on my phone but I don't unfortunately. I'm going to locate some kind of range in there. To th right and left are old built in cupboards which I'm not going to remove. There will be units running along from the cupboard on the right though at a 90 degree angle.

What I would like are some suggestions on how to 'decorate' these. Any ideas. Thank you.

I had similar brick fire places when I added a fire a few years ago. I just brushed the loose dirt off and covered them with a brick sealant. Made them very red looking with a sheen. Other than that a masonry paint ? Sorry I don't know how to add pictures ?

Take a pic and stick them on your computer. Then upload to http://postimage.org/

Then underneath the image will be the link to it which you just copy and then paste onto here.......

Every time you upload a new image, then a new page is opened. Just copy the thumbnail link and post it here. I can just about make out your fireplace. It does look interesting.
