Nationwide Flex account: Asked for I.D but account opened anyway?

I recently opened a Nationwide Flex account and the first letter I receive asked me to provide some I.D, either in branch or by sending forms of I.D off in the post to complete the application. However, I've subsequently received my debit card, card reader and internet/telephone banking details and can now access my account online. I was a bit confused by this as I was under the impression I needed to provide I.D in order for my account to be opened. Does anyone know if I still need to go into a branch to provide them with I.D as initially requested, or can I just ignore that now? I'd rather not have to make a special trip to the bank on my weekend if it's not necessary :)

Thanks in advance.

You would still need to bring in ID. I'd imagine you won't be able to use your debit card until this is done and probably other functions too.
Stephen Covey once said that "when you teach once, you learn twice". That is the primary reason for my participation on the forums as an IFA.

Although I strive to provide accurate information in my posts, there may be the odd time when I fail. Yes I know it's hard to believe but even Your Hero can make mistakes. Apologies in advance.
