I would sincerely ditch the margarine and get back to real butter. Margarine is so, so bad for your health
Fortunately, it has now been proven that butter is better, healthwise, but that information is taking a bit of time to spread! ()
Butter is much tastier too!

Butter for me every time....proven to be a healthier fat than margarine, even for those with high cholesterol....used sparingly of course!

I read somewhere that if you let a packet of butter soften up then mix it well with an equal amount of olive oil, then put it back in the fridge, it works as a spreadable margarine, but you have the advantage of a genuine product instead of all the mutant rubbish that goes into marge. Never tried because I don't use spreads myself but might give it a go in the future for DH sandwiches. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

Many thanks for replies - I like butter but DH won't go near it. I might try the Aldi olive oil spread. I should try cleaning out an old flora tub and transplanting 'cheaper'!!!0

I use Flora light and have done for many years. I do buy butter and sometimes cook with it and occasionally add to vegetables. I will only pay £1 for the medium sized Flora and stock up when it's on offer. Someone always has it for £1 or two for £2 etc.
On one occasion I couldn't source it at a good price and I did some research on other providers' spreads and I believe it was the Aldi one was completely identical. This is two or three years ago so may have changed. Their spread is 69p at the moment and might be worth considering. I don't personally eat much really but it's a matter of principal not to pay 70p more for something and fall into the marketing trap with Flora.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

but......is butter really healthier?? Love butter!
Yes :j:j:j Fill ya boots :rotfl: I was delighted to learn that natural fats like butter are genuinely good for us and that the nonsense we have been told for years has been disproven. Just need to spread the word nowCharlton_King wrote: »Unless you have high cholesterol like 40% of the adult population, most of whom are unaware of the fact...
Actually that is incorrect. Butter and saturated fats do not cause high cholesterol. We have been told for a couple of decades that it does, but it was never proven!
Some really interesting facts about butter here. Please feel free to spread the word via FB/Twitter or word of mouth! Bring butter back
