Personal Injury mange myself or use a firm

Hi,
simple question really. I have been in a car crash and the 3rd party has caused alot of damage to both our cars. 2 of his passengers and I am injured.
there is no issue over liability and I am considering the options of making a personal injury claim myself rather than using a "specialist" firm.
I was wondering of by reducing the extortionate costs these firms generate it would offset the total claim cost and may even see me better off.
Any one have experience of doing so and how did it go?

do you know how much your injury is worth? because the third party insurers won't be acting in your best interested
so sometimes its good to leave some things to others to deal for you0 -
How will you know how much your claim is worth, or whether the insurers are being fair?
The costs a solicitor makes on a non-disputed PI claim is £500+ VAT, so they are not milking it in like the insurers like to make out.
If you have legal cover use that to get a lawyer appointed who won't deduct anything from your compensation.
If you don't, look for a no-win no-fee solicitor who won't deduct a "success fee" from your injury compensation.0 -

That depends of cause on the level of the injury, not all undisputed injuries are £500+VAT and of cause that doesnt factor in the backhanders from the physio companies, doctors etc. Some would say for the amount of time/ effort the fee earner (obv not a solicitor) will have to put into such a case then £600 is milking it
That said, only the absolute most straightforward injury would I suggest someone handle themselves and if in any doubt then clearly a professional should be engaged.0 -
you obviously don't realise the costs of running a PI practice0

lead generated or directly marketed claims don't fall into your lap for free. And that is before you take into account any overheads.0

Yes. I can remember when spam was a cheap way to feed a family.Mr Straw described whiplash as "not so much an injury, more a profitable invention of the human imagination—undiagnosable except by third-rate doctors in the pay of the claims management companies or personal injury lawyers"0 -
it's gruel for us northern types0
