Anyone successfully haggled with BT line rental saver?

Hi all

At the moment BT line rental saver is about £159 (compared to the Post Office at about £120 and Talk Talk at £141).

I spoke to those wonderful chaps in India and they said they couldn't do anything about it, even after mentioning the above 2 companies and their prices.

Did I select the wrong people to talk to ?

Thanks in advance.

It wouldn't have made any difference who you spoke to. I eventually spoke to someone in the Executive Office who could only offer my parents £2pm off their bill or pay be Line Rental saver with no extra reduction. This was after quoting similar deals from elsewhere.

Do you think they would have reduced the figure further if you'd threatened to leave ?

And I'm just thinking of giving them another ring, but this time speaking to Retentions.

If after that they're still refusing to budge, I guess they couldn't care less about their customers; whether they leave or not.

BT are on a remorseless campaign to alienate and price out all of their customers.

They seem to have this blinkered belief that people will pay whatever they demand.

I don't think anyone has told them there are other companies out there offering what they're offering for much less. They seem to think BT Sport will solve all their problems.

I did tell them that my parents were leaving. Their £2pm discount was actually 50p per month as my parents had the old Anytime call package which was cheaper than the new one which they were basing the discount on.

I spoke to Retentions too. It was them that offered the supposed £2pm discount. Even when I explained that it was really only 50p they were offering and that my parents had been customers for around 60 years they still wouldn't budge.

My parents have now moved to Sky on a free line rental for a year deal and saving £5pm on their Sky BB.

Negotiating didn't work for me two years ago - I just blew them off and saved ~ £40 pa by going to Plusnet for ALR and calls
