Beware of ALDI's Secret Parking Fines
BMessie
Just got a £70 fine for 'overstaying' in Aldi's Boscombe store. As a paying customer I would expect to at least be informed that this time restriction was in place. Signage is appalling. I would have gone elsewhere to do my shopping if I had known about the £70 tax on shopping at Aldi.
Apparently there is a machine inside you're meant to put your registration number into - only they try not to let you know as it is more profitable for them to get their hired thugs to send court threats and fines.
I now have to deal with Parking Eye - a well documented bunch of cowboy bullies with a notorious reputation for ripping off the general public.
I guess it's not just the shoddy products that help Aldi keep its prices low. It's now using underhand and sneaky tactics to help its bullyboy business partner threaten its customers with court - for a share of the booty presumably.
Not only that but #ParkingEye issued the ticket on June 20 and it didn't arrive until July 6. Even Royal Mail aren't that bad. Something devious is going on to make it impossible to pay the 'reduced' amount of £40. Not that I am going to pay a penny for this cheating scam.
Don't expect me back in Aldi anytime soon.

It's not Aldi's fault. In my experience Aldi have a mix of car parks - some have free onsite parking, some sites own no parking and you have to park in any nearby car park and some are like the one you mention where you pay to park but can claim it back if you shop there. Same goes for Morrisons.
Basically when it comes to parking, assume nothing and check and double check if it's your first time there. I know that doesn't help you now, but if you get this thread moved to the parking fines board you may get some better advice.0 -

Complain to Aldi.
This happened to my mum, she sent them a letter saying she had taken so long because their stock wasnt out on the shelves and someone had to keep going into the back to get it. I cant recall if they reimbursed her or got the company to cancel the fine.
Either way she never had to pay it (or if she did it was refunded).I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Out of touch? Yeah if being in touch is belonging to a blame anyone else culture. Sure I agree these parking firms are charlatans but why make it easy for them. There's plenty onus on the driver to check where they're parking their pride and joy.
Dissing Aldi's products is a cheap shot as well! Like I say, my 3 local Aldis all have different parking arrangements in place. Its up to the driver to check what system is in place. It's not like the big 3 supermarkets where (in my local ones at least), you can park for a couple of hours without paying a penny.0 -
er, its everything to do with ALDI, ALDI allow parking eye onto their car parks, the parking company are acting for and on behalf of ALDI.
If, for example you went to TESCO and the toilets were filthy ( more so than usual) - and if you mentioned it to a cleaner who was then exceptionally rude and told you to F-off + called you several other names+verbal assualts would you complain to Mitie, or to Tesco?
The blame for a parking companys antics lies at the feet of those who allow them ( the parking company ) onto their land, as the parking company is acting for and on behalf of them.
If the car park owner wanted to do something about it, a MK1 bin bag over the cameras on site would do the trick. From the Plain Language Commission:

If you shopped in Boscombe, you're lucky you had a car left that they could pin a notice to!!0

Have you still got the NtK? If so, what date is on the NtK? Important, given the timeframe between the date of contravention and receipt of NtK.
Please read the NEWBIES sticky thread at the top of the forum. This is a great guide about what to do.
But the date of NtK is the first important part.
Oh - as far as Parking and Aldi and PE, it is far, far , far from being any secret on here.0 -
Out of touch? Yeah if being in touch is belonging to a blame anyone else culture.
It's not 'anyone else'. Aldi contract the scumbags as their agents. This IS Aldi's fault and they deserve all the complaints they get about getting into bed with these notorious moneygrabbers whose agenda is to impose a short time limit so they can maximise their profits (they sell their service as 'maximising parking spaces' but it is no such service at all). If the time limit is too long Parking Eye 'help' Aldi decide to change it and put forward biased arguments to local Councils if the planning consent says, say 3 hours, PE will paint a picture of needing to change it to 2 hours. Some Councils fall for it and Aldi certainly do. IDIOTS.
Complaints about Aldi are so common on here and of course it's their problem - look how many times the Supermarkets crop up here:
Successful complaints about private parking tickets - how to get them cancelled!
We could tell the thread didn't start on this forum board straight away due to the posts at first. Not Aldi's fault, LOL!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
