Fraud on the Sony Playstation Network SEN - you have NO rights! - ABYSMAL SERVICE

All the above offers good advice...would be interesting to see how far you get!
I had one where an e-mail came through saying I'd bought a CoD map pack. I rang Sony and they confirmed that I only had one system active and they couldn't do anything about it. The wife then rang me and said the 5 year old had 'clicked a few things' and managed to do it.
So I took action. I made sure that I needed to input my password before purchases.
And I also took out a lawsuit against my daughter for £11.99 for spending it utter tosh!
Oh, and what did they buy for you anyway since you need an ID to sign into store and buy it to a specific account? Can't be bought against another account...0 -
Like everyone else have said, try the easiest method (emailing) first, and advance to the most difficult one (writing) if you have no luck. You will get a response, the problem they have is so many people doing this that it takes a little more effort from the consumer to get them to look into it properly. It's frustrating and definitely shouldn't be that way, but they're not trying purposefully to get to you.
Failing that, go to a games console you like the company of more. I stick to PC gaming, mainly because I already had a PC for working on so it was inexpensive for me to use it to game on too. I have friends that swear by Sony, and other friends who swear by Nintendo, or Valve. It's all personal preference.0 -

That's not how it works. Once they have access to an account, they link it to their console, download the games, and then ANY account can use the games on that console.
They bought 3 different games.

I was giving the head of customer services 10 days to reply to my email. That is up tomorrow. I will write to them now, though I fear this will again be pointless considering others on this forum haven't had success in doing that. But, I want to do everything correctly before I take legal action. Go through all the steps and give an appropriate time of response. Still no call back from a 'manager' either. No point calling them again, will just be on hold for 45 minutes, then be quoted the 'terms of service' and fobbed off with a lie about managers not existing or having one call me back. Guess its whatever gets me off the phone quicker.0 -

A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.
Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -

It is how it works but they have effectively file shared your ID. Same effect as what I said as you would still be able to play the games. Anyway…
It will only be one console which has access and you can deactivate that console to re-access the files again easily. They can access the files downloaded on that console.
Sony will have the console ID and IP location for where it was downloaded. You should be able to make a claim of fraud against them…just depends how much effort you want to put in.
Read down the page anyway…there has been success:

Oh, you have deactivated your PS3 account and reset it and also changed your password?0 -

Sony won't give me the IP or console ID. They say for 'security reasons' so I can't pursue a claim against the fraudster. The issue is with Sony now and how they deal with fraud on their network.
Not quite sure what you mean in the 1st paragraph, sorry.
They deactivated all my devices and added their own PS4. I was on the phone to the Sony call centre when the fraudsters deactivated 'all consoles' - the guy saw it and said did you just do this? I of course hadn't. I had to add my consoles again and change password whilst on the phone.
I've read down the page, yes thanks, that was one of the people who hadn't had success with writing to Sony. That's what I would say to that uncivil troll above if I was responding to him. But I'm not. So I won't. Don't know why people 'thanks' his post either. Very strange. Says it all really. I'm having greater success and help on other sites, sites that know what someone like him is...so I think I will stick to them for now. Adios MSE.0 -
This is pretty terrible, feel bad for you.
Might sound a dumb question, but if you use a credit card to pay for this type of thing are you covered by the CC provider for any fraudulent transactions? I tend to use my CC to pay for any digital/internet purchase and I was wondering if that's actually wise or idiotic?0 -
You can prevent it further by buying 1 of them pre paid cards and you enter the code.
If you do, DO NOT STORE THE CREDIT. I've just had my account hacked, and they used my psn credit to buy games. Sony have admitted fraud, but are not refunding me the credit. Shame we are not in the US, where I expect a class action suit to follow.0 -

Old thread here, is a more recent thread you could have used.
No need to post on 2 threads though.0 -
As I explained, only to be abused and ridiculed by now deleted posts...this is a widespread problem.
As such, BBC Watchdog are covering it tonight.0
