then my one job paid direct chose not to pay for the two weeks [should have been 6 im only part time so no sick pay]
so got next to no wages and could not re start other job for three weeks so got into a mess
couldnt pay it interest went on I dug my head in sand
any came to payment plan that at some point will clear it so its back in black [3 months]
the charges from the card are stupid late payment 12.00
id protection 6.00
over ltd 12.00
repament plan 23.00
purchase interest 58.35:cool:
i have now got letter from impact saying payment in full etc:eek:

another question why is it capital one put payments by debit card straight on system and vaquis take up 5 days and charge you?

Hi there,
I am sorry to hear about your situation. It's a pain I and many others here can understand. I shudder at the mess I was in this time last year.
Impact for those who do not know is basically the "Collection" arm of Vanquis.
They are the typical letterbox bully and will send the usual threats through your door printed across all manors of coloured paper. They like all the others use big scary words and have little actual bite other than being a serious pain in the !!!.
Below is a very much Dellboy Trotter way to look at things, although in no way illegal it could be considered pushing your luck somewhat. It worked for me sublimly well but may be less effective for others. Consider it a partial guide to what I did. Do as you may with the information.
The best way I personally found to deal with these types is to be forthcoming, avoidance is a bad idea. However a great way to buy your self time with collection agents is to correspond exclusively by post, using second class stamps.
The first step is to reinforce you take the matter seriously and you intend to handle the problem, however your present circumstances are preventative. Over exaggerating your financial distress a bit isn't a bad idea but don't go overboard. Inform them that you will be seeking professional advice as to how best to organise a repayment schedule so as to make payments to Impact/Vanquis and other creditors. Remind them that you will be in touch shortly. Their letters should pause for a brief interlude.
Wait a week and send them another letter, second class conforming that you have also made an appointment with the citizens advice and should be able to work out a payment system soon. (something you should do for real actually)
You're done, for now. You've bought your self 1 month already.
After a couple of weeks they will again try make contact. Your job once again is simple. You need to stall. Once their next letter arrives, wait 3 days and send them a letter. This letter should be of a flustered tone, you're annoyed at them. The reason you're annoyed is you mailed them 2 weeks ago requesting a confirmation of the full outstanding balance and a rundown of all the charges and you have yet to receive a response. (You didn't really do this but it puts them slightly on the defensive, and it also makes it seem that you haven't received there latest 'bla bla bla court letter')
Let it arrive, wait another 3 days or so then send a brief mail confirming that it arrived this time and you will be in touch again shortly after you had time to review it with professional support.
So far you've managed to buy about 6 weeks with stalling.
There are other ways to stall, believe me. I managed to drag out collections with HALIFAX for over 8 months doing this. It allowed me to raise £350 in savings and settle a £1,400 balance. This is exactly what you're aiming for. Settlements are a great way out. All you need to do is buy your self enough time to raise an offer amount.
One other thing I did right at the end when I was ready to look to settle was to telephone them this time (instead of using the usual second class mail service) and inform them I was filing for bankruptcy. I told them that before it was confirmed, I wanted to try and make some amendments to creditors. (this can seriously drive down a settlement amount if you can pitch it)
Other ways to stall are to site minor medical problems or problems with the mail service.
None of these things I've said are exactly "correct" and certainly not endorsable but they do work to buy you some time and hopefully that's all you need. Please be careful though as some collectors can be worse than others, Impact are not so bad but that's no guarantee of anything. If they do try drag your carcus to court it's not my fault! Just remember the golden rule, be communicative and always answer them.
I don't know what your balance is, but for Vanquis I can't imagine it's a huge amount. If you can drag out to 2 months I'm hoping it will give you enough time to raise enough cash to settle.
Best of luck,
-Kane
PS. Can't answer your last question. I have no clue.0 -
Thanks for the info lane I will try it and see how I get on can't be any worse
Thankyou again0 -

Paying for ID Protection was probably a waste of money.
You appear to have been paying for Vanquis' ROP (Repayment Option Plan). Why didn't you use it? http://www.vanquis.co.uk/credit-cards/vanquis-repayment-option-plan
You don't mention how long this has been going on for. Perhaps you could still use ROP?0 -
I would urge you to contact vanquis and claim on the plan you have been paying for, your issue is exactly what the plan is for, this would protect your credit rating and give you some breathing space, hopefully they will call of the collection service and you'll have a better understanding on what is needed.
Good luck

To answer your last question, Vanquis never charged me for paying by debit card? And a lot of credit card providers take a few days to clear debit card payments into your account. It's annoying, but technically they don't actually have the cleared payment for a few days.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0
