I'm looking for some help/advice please.
I've had a change of family circumstances and I now have to arrange buildings and contents insurance for my mother. Due to a disability, she has a through-floor lift installed between her dining room and bedroom.
Do I have to let the insurance company know this and does it apply to both or either buildings and contents (they're currently separate policies). The buildings insurance is due for renewal and the company won't just roll it over into my mother's name - they want everything done as if its a new policy. I'm worried about giving the wrong answers and not declaring everything I should.
Will be very grateful for any help.
Thank you.

I would expect it to form part of the buildings insurance but its worth double checking. You just need to ensure your rebuild cost reflects the additional cost of installing a new lift assuming you arent on an unlimited policy.0
