Kodak Hero 5.1 printer - No power?

Hello,

So I helped my elderly next door neighbour install a new printer yesterday as he said theirs just wouldn't work, so went out and purchased a new one (wish I could just go out and buy new things at the first sight of something going wrong!). Anyway, he gave me his old one to have, if I get it to work.

When putting the adapter into the wall, without plugging it into the printer, the green light is on the adapter and looks ok. When I plug it into the printer, the light on adapter goes off and there's no power to printer. Green light on adapter only comes back on if I turn off at wall, unplug from printer and switch on at the wall again.

Would you reckon this would a fault with the power adapter or the printer itself? I'm about to buy an adapter on ebay for £5~ to give it a go as it looks a decent printer for just a £5 adapter, if it works.

Many thanks.

    Classic symptoms of PSU failure.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it
  • I've got the same problem and just found this forum.
What does this mean for the printer? Is it repairable?
  • I have this exact same problem with my hero 5.1. Bought a new power adapter and its doing the same thing.

Did any of you manage to fix it?

I never really tried looking for a PSU or spares/repairs to get one from to fix. I'm handy with things like that but it wasn't absolutely needed so I took the thing to recycling. Shame, it looked a decent printer!

Psu = power supply unit. That would be in the actual printer and would probably be too much of a pain to swap out, unless you're into tinkering!
