So hang on a minute, this is not just an administrative arrangement but also a kind of gambling pool?

Not exactly. Every week one of the chaps will put a £10 accumulator on a few games, we throw him £2 each when we see him and usually that's the end of it. Once a year when the bet comes in we throw the £400+ into the account.

More to this than meets the eye

No, just trying to justify why this works, (and has done before), for us and hopefully to get more suggestions rather than being judged on something that isn't going on.

Looks like it's cash in the floorboards then ;).

why does it have to be in your name?

can't it be in some-one elses name but you administer it: with online access there is no actual need to go into a bank

    Hi there

I'd deal them a bit of tough love. If they are close friends they'll appreciate it (at least long term).

    Explain your work predicament.

I'd be hopeful that if they are unable to comprehend your concerns they'll help to save individually.

If they cant then once they have no spending money on this trip they'll hopefully not make this mistake on further trips.

You cant be expected to spoon feed capable people forever - else they they will just allow you to do this.

    Good luck

Thanks for the post. We're a good bunch and all take certain jobs with trips like this one. Last time we did this I was in sole charge of savings and all things money, another of us excels at finding and booking cheap flights/hotels, another sorts out what we're doing when we go etc etc. It just works better this way and always has. If it weren't for my company becoming increasingly wobbly then no problem, but I'm just thinking ahead.
