No ticket being issued in asda car park

I did some shopping at asda at 7.30 am and paid £2 to park and if I spend £5 I will get my parking ticket refunded. There was no ticket issued and when to to report it to cs,she told me it is too early as there is no parking attendant and to come later on to query. I came later on and the parking assistant could not help but advised me to phone the number on site but warned that it is going to cost more than £2. Needless to say I did not ring but was not too happy to have lost my £2? Has it ever happened to anybody else? I understand asda car park is run by a private company. Thanks

Hello, I cannot really help you with your situation but a similar thing happened to me a few months ago. I went to get a ticket from the machine and it swallowed the money so my partner went to customer services whilst I stayed by the machine and our car. Customer services said they were going to put an out of order sign on the machine and gave him money to get a new ticket in a different machine. Even though it is a private car park I think out of good will Asda's should have done the same thing to you. The reason why you tried to buy a ticket is because you wanted to shop at their store and it wasn't your fault that no ticket came out and there was no attendant there. We have had so many problems with our local asda's car park that for some reason they have covered all the ticket machines and have put a sign up stating 3 hours free car parking. I hope you manage to sort something out.

Thanks, I phoned CS and they put me through the private car park company basically he told me he cannot give me a refund on the phone but he will make sure this does not happen again. I have lost £2 I think I will complain to the manager next time I shop to asda.

Yeah it's worth a try because it's not acceptable. They should have solutions in place for when things like this happen. I would want the £2 back not just because of the money but the principle too. Good luck
