Egg Loan PPI - Does this constitute miss-selling?

Hi,

I took out an Egg load back in about 2002/2003 and I had PPI sold to me. Some time ago I was sent a form by Canada Square which I've been sitting on ever since but have now decided that I need to address it.

The thing is I an not sure what I should out down on the form. It's such a long time ago that I can't remember exactly what was said, but I do know that I was offered PPI and I said yes. Now what i DO remember about it is that I was told that if I did not claim for the life of the policy I would get a full refund. I remember this because I was very annoyed when the loan was paid off and I got no refund and felt like I'd been conned (which I obviously had).

Now should I say that on the form? That to me seems like the very definition of 'Miss-selling' but I've not seen anyone else online who had the same experience and so I am worried that they'll tell me that I consented and that's the end of it.

What would people's advice be?

Thanks in advance,

J

If you have this in writing then you might have a case. Anything else is just "hearsay" which you'll never be able to prove and the Bank will dispute.
Look for other (preferably verifiable) reasons for complaint.

And be truthful on the form, if you cant remember, then say exactly that.

If you end up making things up,you have to have a good memory.....

Here is an example of an FOS decision on hearsay style complaints:
    http://www.ombudsman-decisions.org.uk/viewPDF.aspx?FileID=17944

You will see that the hearsay bit failed due to lack of evidence. However, it went on to look at suitability (where many then succeed). Although in this case it was not deemed unsuitable. The person also appeared to contradict themselves in their complaint (saying they were forced to have it but later changing their story).

This is why the above posts are telling you to look for stronger reasons and dont make things up.
