OP, when you pointed it out did they definitely agree that you wouldn't be paid for extra hours that you do?

I used to work in retail and I remember looking at my contract properly after a few months of working there (and being paid for overtime) and noticing that it said I would be expected to work some overtime, unpaid. I asked the manager about it and she just shrugged, so I really don't think what you've read means what you think it means. Take the job, and your wages will be topped up with JSA.

Maybe it meant expected to work some overtime but at normal pay rates - not overtime rates.
  • You do not have to take a job that will pays less than JSA so if the job was really only £50 per week then appeal the sanction.

I thought this as well, OP needs to appeal and go to see their MP.They can get things done quicker than an everyday person and they will definatley respond to them and in a proper manner.
A lot of people on here advise others in a less fortunate position to do things that they would never, ever do themselves.

Is it possible that you are not getting paid for your overtime because you are getting time off in lieu?

If the op is over 24, then it looks like the £50 per week wage is below NMW anyway.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

    Member #1 of £1,000 challenge - £13.74/ £1000 (that's 1.374%)

    3-6 month EF £0/£3600 (that's 0 days worth)

It's over 21 and I suspect the OP means £50 ish as 8 hours at 6.31 is £50.48.

Besides...the OP has been quiet for quite a while!
