I need to move the SH closer to the TV, it is currently in another room.
VM want £99 to move it.
I don`t suppose the cable that goes into my TV box can be used, using a splitter maybe so the one cable goes into the SH and the TV box??
Thanks

The TV and broadband use the same piece of coax so that should work but an extra splitter might upset the power levels. Cable splitters are cheap as chips on eBay so trying it won't cost much if you can't find the one that's there already. There is a sticky on cableforum showing how to find your power levels and what the acceptable range is. If you get stuck you'll get answers there quicker than here but search the forum first before asking as most stuff is covered.
An alternative would be to use a long ethernet connection if that is the problem.0 -
I need to move the SH closer to the TV,
Why?
Anyhow, if your BB is like mine, the cable from the wall goes to splitter and then separate cables run to SuperHub and the V+ box.
If you trace the cable from your SuperHub to what it connects to, then you should be able to disconnect both ends, move the SuperHub and then reconnect with a new piece of cable with F-type connectors at each end.0 -
Have you thought about power-line adapters? That's how I pass my VM BB around the house.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Shortening the cable run is no problem, but If there is a short run to the SH and a long run to the TV from the splitter box where the cable enters the house you need a new length of coax.
If is to wire the SH to the TV 10-20m ethernet cables are a cheap option. I have just done this. SH is now away from the TV, but there are now two 10m ethernet cables under the floorboards and all is fine.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
Not techie so bear with me.
My SH is now in a room without a PC (there used to be one).
We get no wifi upstairs and poor wifi in the lounge, tried wifi extenders and the plug in the wall boxes with limited success.
If the SH was in the lounge behind the TV it would give us a cable into PS3 for Netflix, better wifi for PC, phones, ipad etc which are mostly in the lounge. Plus the wifi `should` reach upstairs better.
At the moment, the box on the wall outside has two cables, one feeding the SH in the other room and the other feeding the Tivo box in the lounge.
From the replies so far, I think I should be able to re-position the SH behind the TV, remove the cable from the Tivo, feed it into a splitter of some kind and then use two short cables, one to the SH and one to the Tivo.
Or have I got it completely wrong?
I appreciate that it might not work well because of the levels etc, but if I have got it right, should be worth a try.
Can anyone point me towards the right sort of splitter/cables?
Thanks0 -

I'd be tempted to carefully unclip the cable running to the SuperHub and move it to run alongside cable to Tivo, then reconnect the SuperHub0 -
A splitter on the TV cable may work. Thats how my is, one cable into the house with a splitter going into the tv and router
If it doesn't, another option would be to spend the money a new wifi router rather than to virgin. Put the new router in the lounge, either connect it via powerline adapters or run a cable from the old to the new one.
The wifi signal on the superhub is not great, so a router with a better wifi would give you a better signal in the rest of the house than you would get by simply moving the superhub, and it wont cost you much more than the £99 virgin want to to charge (less if you go for a cheaper router)0 -

Thanks, unfortunately the one to the SH is much shorter than the one to the Tivo.
Is it just normal TV Coax cable, if it is maybe I can just run a new piece.0 -

Thanks, can anyone recommend a router if I wanted to go this route?0
