I recently moved house and asked my internet and phone provider (plusnet) to move my phone number and internet to my new home... this took a while and then when they did it they without telling me changed my phone number which ive had for over 12 years and use for my business which has been running for 12 years.... when i complained they said there was nothing they could do and that was that.... ive asked for services to be cancelled and they said they would charge me as i am in contract with them.... is this so as i feel they have broke the contract by changing the phone number with i never asked them to do.... where do i stand please.

If you put your old postcode into samknows and then click on the BT ADSL tab it will tell you the name of the exchange that served your old house. If you do the same with the new postcode, is it the same exchange?0

no wasnt a business line as when i first had it a wasnt self employed.....
I have basically moved a mile away and still in the same town... i have done the samknows and exchange name is the same.... the OLO is the same.... Country the same ...... and region is the same0 -
If the exchange is the same then you should have been able to retain your number.
I'm assuming that when you originally got that number it was provided by BT (as opposed to Virgin Media etc.)? If so Plusnet should be able to renumber your line and specifically enter your old number for reservation.0 -
Cannot see you being able to get out of the contract for a number change .
Might pay to ask on the Plusnet forum.0
