Orange fence panels

Hi all,

Thanks for all your advice so far (have posted over the last fortnight re buying supermarket plants and about what to do with old compost and got loads of useful advice).

So, today I have had 3 out of 5 fence panels replaced on one side and they are a hideous orange colour. Don't want to paint or stain them (lack of time, money, knowhow and risk of upsetting neighbours if I make a mess of it) so if possible I'd rather just let them 'weather'. My question is, will they actually weather/tone down and how long is it likely to take before they blend in with the old panels?

Thanks for any and all help.

Too many variables. Could be weeks, months or even years. They will always look different though as your original panels have had more weathering. You really need to stain them all to get a uniform look. Its not expensive or difficult and not too time consuming either as you do not need to be as neat as say recording a room in your house.

i would stain them all the same colour, your new and old fence panels.

Just get a big wide brush, a big tub of fence paint, and away you go - I find it quite theraputic painting the fence on a still sunny day :). Just make sure you don't have any vehicles etc near the fence when you're painting, as even with a brush you might splash.
  • Thanks all, staining it is then, if it ever stops raining of course!
