District Valuer, Inheritance Tax -what to expect ?

The District Valuer wants to see our property to give an "opinion on value" for Inheritance Tax.

Does anyone know what they do & what to expect ?

Is it a quick look round visit, taking basic details ?
Do they take measurements/photographs ?

Do we point out anything we think he should see, if it might affect valuation ?

Anything else, any suggestions ?

Don't understand this post - is it your property or is it subject to probate? Be prepared to argue the toss - it might be worth having a friendly estate agent come up with a probate value for you. Probate value is different from market value in my view.

District Valuer checks probate/IHT valuations for the Government, gives his opinion on value & agrees valuation for Inheritance Tax office (HMRC).
