Proof of address

Hi there,

I have requested a bank statement from Lloyds bank to prove my address to Santander (to set up a direct debit).
Now, the bank statement is 7 pages long.
What do you think?
Would it be fine to just send in the first page (to save postage)?

Thank you!

    Oh sorry, you are right! The bank statement is not prove my address but to prove that I'm the owner of that account.

    Assuming you were to put all 7 pages in the same envelope, how much would you save by just sending 1 page? :huh: :cool:

    Santander always do this if you want to set up a DD for one of their savings accounts. One reason why I don't use their savings accounts for DDs. The other reason is that it takes a minor lifetime for them to set it up. Tesco DD is the way to go.

    I'm currently on a work placement in Germany.
    The difference is 0.75 € for 1 page and 3.45 € for 7 pages postage for sending a letter from Germany to the UK.

    Unfortunately, the answer I received from Santander is 'No'.
    Here is the answer I got from Santander
    Good Evening Mr Bond,
    Thank you for your email.
    I can confirm that we would require a full copy of the recent statement for your other account and I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused.
    We would ask for the full statement to ensure that all necessary information is provided, and to therefore avoid the need to ask you to send further information at a later point.
    I hope this information is useful and if you have any other queries, please do not hesitate to contact me via Secure Messaging or my colleagues on 0845 9724724, Monday to Saturday 7am to 11pm and Sunday 8am to 10pm.
    Kind regards,
    Moneypenny

    That might explain why you have difficulties to provide proof of a UK address?

    Your online application/communication will most likely all be from a non-UK IP address.

    My experience is that it takes a minor lifetime to open an account with Tesco. (I still don't have an account with them - even though I applied a month ago).

    I'm currently on a work placement in Germany.
    Therefore the only way for me to get a certified copy of my passport is through officials in Germany. I have followed exactly the rules to get a certified copy (see below, taken from Nationwide International).

    However, Tesco says they won't accept it because the institution certifying my documents is not in the UK and therefore they cannot track it.
    I'm quite annoyed with Tesco.
    Certified copies are copies of original documents that have been verified and signed by one of the professional persons listed below :-
    member of the judiciary, a senior civil servant, or a serving police or customs officer;
    an Officer of an Embassy, Consulate or High Commission of the country of issue;
    a lawyer, notary public, actuary, accountant or company secretary who is a member of a recognised professional body;
    a director or manager of a regulated business on the Isle of Man or in an equivalent jurisdiction. Please contact us if you require additional information.
    The person giving the certification may provide the certification in English on the Certification of Identification Documents form. Alternatively, they may provide the certification, directly on the copy of the document, providing the following information :-
    sign and date the copy document (printing his/her name clearly in capitals)
    clearly indicate his/her position or capacity
    provide his/her contact details, including the name and address of the company/institution that they represent
    the certifier must state that it is a true copy of the original document.
    Please note that independent certification is a legal requirement and we may have no option but to return documents that are not certified in accordance with our guidelines above.
