rubbish ground...garden bark?

Out the front of my home there is a small patch of dirt with some little bushes along the edge but the dirt is really rubbish and looks a mess. ive tried watering etc but doesnt make much difference so thinking of putting some bark down.

I know lidl had some cheap but no lidl near me any one lnow anywhere online reasonably priced with free delivery?

or can anyone recommend anything else its the same in the back garden, nothing seems to grow.

    You do not want bark, what you need is compost or rotted manure

    Bark is decorative, compost or manure will improve the soil structure

    Bark will just cover the the rubbish soil. OK it will rot away in a few years, depends what you are trying to achieve really, hide it or improve it?
