Best Travel Gift Cards

Hi there
My partner and I hope to go to NYC next year for a big birthday. Some family members want to give us gift cards as a gift - does any one know the best gift cards that you can use to buy flights or hotels with?
I don't want to be too restricted e.g. BA might not be the cheapest airline for instance, so we'd want to avoid specific vouchers if possible.
I found that Flight Centre do gift cards - can anyone recommend them or any one else?
Thanks :j

I don't know if it is possible for other people to fund a Prepaid Card. Kalixa Pay(via Money Supermarket) allows Bank Transfers.
No charges for spending here nor abroad.0 -
if you would use the funds to pay for flights/hotel from the UK and in GBP maybe one of the MasterCard gift card(s) would be an option? though I suppose it may depend on how many people would be giving them - if they could get together and give you one and not 10...not sure how easy it is to use multiple cards to pay for flights or hotel online.
something like this sort of thing, perhaps.

For the reasons you describe I would be hesitant to choose one particular type of gift card over another.
If it didn't seem too crass maybe you could ask for USD instead to spend while there? Though again that may not be ideal depending on the likely value involved.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
