New Dell laptop is supplied with 36months worth of McAfee security centre which i plan to use. Looking at the features it has the normal virusscan, firewall and spyware checker.

Could someone please answer the following :--

1. turn off windows firewall? just use the mcafee firewall

2. windows defender. What is this exactly? currently it is switched off.

With the mcafee running can i use the following as well?

3. spyboy search and destroy

4. spyblaster

5. adaware

6. ccleaner

7. spyguard

I will not be using AVG and Zonealarm until mcafee expires :-(

Thanks in adavnce for your replies

If your running Vista make sure all the above are able to work on vista before installing them
Don't listen to the bad things about Vista its the best

Just because it's free don't mean it's good

    Ditch Norton Now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wall:

Just Because you read it some where don't mean it's right ;)
  • Gremlin is correct, Just be careful with the when using Outlook or webmail, as Mcafee will on occasion corrupt the flow of your emails...

Best thing to do with McAfacrap is to uninstall it.

Also, the only thing you're gonna achieve by running multiple realtime scanners covering the same thing is to bring your system to a slower crawl than McAfacrap manages to.

    Vistas firewall is good.
    NOD32 for AV
    Windows Defender for realtime Antispyware.
    Spybot/Adaware for manual scans.
CCleaner for doing what it does.
