My new laptop was delivered today. It is a Dell laptop with 160GB. It is loaded with Vista home premium.
As with all new laptops the harddrive is partitioned. There is the usual C drive and then there is D drive which is for recovery purposes.
I have Partition Manager 8 (personal). Is it possible to use this to partition the harddrive. Have used it with success with XP home.
Thanks in advance

Partition Magic 8 is quite old so I doubt whether it works on Vista, and I'd be careful about installing it.
Instead, see How to Shrink and Extend NTFS Volumes in Windows Vista.0 -
Had a go at this. Able to shrink and extend the hard drive size but unable to create a partition

any other advice?Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems

You have to shrink an existing partition first in order to create free space on the drive for the new partition. You then right-click the free space and select the option to create a partition and then format it. All this is done using the Disk Management tool.0

I have done the above. Shrink the existing partition first. When i click on the created free space i only get the option of 'New Simple volume'. When i go ahead with that it says not enough memory??? There is around 60GB freeProblem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
