    Evening Money Savers,
A good day today on the money saving front:
*Free fitness. Started day with aerobics DVD.
*Saved a little bit of energy by sharing bath water & letting hair dry naturally instead of getting dryer & straighteners out.
*Did rubber chicken. I did a whole curried roast chicken last night & the leftovers did us a spicy rice tonight, will go with home made jacket wedges tomorrow plus one packed lunch.
*Did next week's meal plans & shopping list.
*Shopping came in under budget with enough left to get a couple of nice steaks for Saturday night.
*mr f took car for its big service. I gave him the £185 we had saved in the Car Piggy & told him to put the rest on a credit card temporarily while I juggled some funds around. Usual worry all day as to what problems they'd find....Anyway, he came home WITH CHANGE!!! There was the set service charge (Kwik-fit) & we just needed some new wiper blades. When mr f went to pay up, the mechanic said, "I'm going to knock you £15 off the bill because your spark plugs didn't need changing. I shouldn't do really, but it doesn't seem fair because I haven't had to do them". Apparently, we will need a two new tyres in a couple of months, but I've been able to put the change back in the Car Piggy to go towards those. All car bills used to go straight on credit card or overdraft in the Spendy Years (decades!) so that's a big improvement for us.
*Veggie garden maintenance....that's our food out there! Hoed the leek & courgette beds.
*Refurbished bathroom scales. They'd been banished since we had our new bathroom as they were a bit skankrous. Some neat Stardrops on a cloth & some metal polish....sparkling!! No need for new ones!
*Upcycled the fabric I cut off the bottom of the bathroom curtains into a matching storage bag for back of bathroom door. It's been used to cover a stool too. Still some left. Made a cushion to go in our tent.
*Altered an ancient linen shirt for mr f. To be honest, he's had it so long it could walk to the bin on its own, but he wants it for gardening, BBQs etc.
    *Updated budgets.
*Did some surveys. Think we will be getting some free new cat food to test.
*Contributed to 2 online forums I'm on at the moment. I appear to be
in line for 2 x £5 Amazon vouchers from one of them.
*Investigate my new Rosemary Conley online free subscription.
So that wasn't a bad day on the money saving front, really. Come on, we can do it! (keep our hands on our pennies, I mean!)

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!
