Hi there! :-)
Wonder if someone could help.
I closed an old Halifax Credit card back in February and it's still showing on my online banking.
It's a closed account as confirmed by Halifax but I want to apply for a Halifax Clarity Card, but when I go to apply the Halifax applications says I cannot have another card as I already have the maximum allowed.
I called Halifax and was told I can't apply for another card until 6 months have passed since the closure of the old card. Does anyone know if this is actually true?
Thank you :-)

Unless they've changed their policy*, you're normally considered a new customer after closing zero balance statement plus 30 days.
* Maybe Lloyds have 'interfered'?0 -

Hi there,
I had the same problem with my Halifax Student Credit Card which I closed back in March. I had different information passed to me about the length of time I had to wait, first 30 days then 6 months. Back last month I inquired in branch about a new card and again got mixed messages. I decided to call Halifax and the really helpful lady managed to get the old card removed from my profile and told me I could apply for a new one after 24 hours. Give them a call and see what they can do, I have always found Halifax Customer Services dont really have a clue what they are doing0 -
Hi,
I actually went to Halifax to enquire about cards today as I have the all-in-one but wanted to change to Clarity.
Officially the bank said that no one is allowed more than one card, though this may be changing in the near future. They also said some people have managed to upgrade via phoning up but it's not always possible.
I unfortunately am in the latter category and they said I should cancel my card and wait 2 months (1 month to close down, 1 month for credit agencies to update) before applying for the Clarity but there is no guarantee that you will get it after closing the other one
They also said if there was someone else in the household without one, they should apply & put me on as an additional cardholder as that would be quicker.
Hope that helps
